“You must teach me everything about your life,” Ampata said as she sat on the bed. “I want to fit in, Buffy. Just like you, a normal life.”

“One normal life…” Buffy said as she looked at Ampata. The girl was clearly nervous and look like she could use some comforting. “Well, let me show you a normal thing we do.”

Ampata was surprised when Buffy leaned across and kissed her on the lips. “This is an American custom, between girls,” Buffy said between kisses.

Ampata didn’t know how to react. She resisted the urge to try and drain Buffy, this was different, this was fun.

“I think I like this custom,” Ampata said with a giggle.

“Well, let’s make it a little better,” Buffy said as she turned her head and yelled, “Mom!”

“I don’t get it,” Cordelia said as she sat across from Willow. “I thought foreign exchange students were supposed to be hot.”

Willow let out another sigh, Cordelia was the last thing she needed, “I’ll trade you.”

Cordelia smirked, “Oh, is someone not getting the attention they need from Xander. You really need to change up your approach.”

Willow saw Xander walking across the Bronze, clearly looking for Ampata, “I’m sure you have the perfect idea on how to get his attention.”

“Of course I do, and I can get back at Devin at the same time,” Cordelia said as grabbed Willow and kissed her.

Willow saw Xander freeze in the background and the band missed a beat as their lead singer was distracted by the sight, but it only lasted for a moment. Xander moved away, seeming to not believe what he saw, “That didn’t work for very long.”

“We just need to up the ante,” Cordelia reasoned as she looked around. “Ms Calendar, can you help some girls out?”

Willow walked through the Bronze. It was mostly cleared out, the party long since over. She hadn’t left yet, she was still thinking about what had happened with Ampata.

“Hey, excuse me,” a voice said as she approached. “Detective Kate Lockley, I’m looking for a student named Ampata.”

Willow looked at the woman’s badge in surprise, “You aren’t with the Sunnydale police.”

“No, I’m not. Some museum displays were found broken when they arrived in LA, I’m checking previous locations to see if that is where the damage occurred. My investigations have led me to Ampata. Do you know where she is?”

Willow shook her head, “You won’t be able to find her.”

“Oh, why is that?”

“She had a problem with a boy.”

Kate chuckled, “Yeah, that will do it. That’s why I prefer a different route.”

“What do you mean?” Willow said as their eyes met. “Oh!” she exclaimed as she felt something different stir inside of her.
