Chapter 7 by mjor144 mjor144

Where do you land?

In the proper place

As you stepped in to the portal you felt like you were driving in a very fast car that was rapidly slowing down after a long acceleration. You couldn't feel the ground, and yet you stood. You felt like every cell in your body was stretching and compacting at the same time. Your eyesight told you that worlds, entire universe around was shattering and reconstructing itself in a different, yet still fitting manner.

You continued to step forward somehow, there was something that pulled you to a certain dimly glowing point. You knew it must have been another world, your destination. The training you went through included even this part, so you knew more or less what to expect.

As you were about to step through, you felt a sharp pain in your stomach, like something was stopping you. You could sense it, it was like another **** entered into the fray and tried to grab you in the very last moment.

You shook your head and stepped through anyway. The pain appeared again, but it didn't stop you this time.

After the tiniest moment of a bright flash enveloping every part of your body and gear, you finally landed.

You felt like hell. Your eyes were filled with fog that was slowly dispersing. When your sight finally came back to you, you could see you were in a large stone room.

"Hello, traveler." Said the fine dressed in a robe gentleman that reached out a hand to you to help you stand up.

"I am Gregor.".

"David Trent. What the hell was that?"

"The transition, the journey can sometimes be difficult. It varies from person to person. Sometimes all they need to do is just a tiny step, and sometimes they need to go through a marathon." He explained. "As for myself, I had to do a small hike to get to this side."

You looked at him, surprised with those revelations. It was not included in your training.

You decided against telling him about that other feeling, about pain calling you somewhere else.

"I see you are well equipped already. Before I let you out into this world, I need a signature from you stating that you've been here."

You did just that. It was a little weird to see a modern thing like a pen in this medieval looking environment.

"You've been checked for magic, right?"

"Yes, Rachel checked me."

"Do you mind if I do this myself? I don't want to diminish Rachel's talent, but the instruments provided in here by the locals, amplified by magic being everywhere are a bit more precise."

You shrugged, and he proceeded to look at you intensely from behind his glasses.

""I can see... Absolutely nothing. It seems like you don't have any magical abilities on your own."

He said with a little weirded out voice.

"Rachel said something like that when she scanned me." You also decided against sharing your Void talent. You've been told by Millie that people on this side might react strangely when they'll learn about it.

"It is uncommon, yes, but it happens."

You spoke with Gregor a little longer as he gave you rough directions to the north where they hired mercenary companies to deal with some feral monsters. You thanked him and were finally on your way.

Choosing a direction
