In her office on Earth

Karin sighed as she sat in her office back on Earth. She hadn’t been here in awhile, but after the chaos of the war and losing a lot of good people, Karin felt it necessary to take some vacation time and then ended up back on Earth. She remembered the days of Alenko and Pressly and even working with people like Dr Solus and Krios. They had showed her new ways of thinking she had never dreamed of as a human doctor.

But here she was back on Earth. It wasn’t a completely loss though, after the war many aliens came to Earth as it became a new welcomed part for everyone to visit and live at. People often travelled far and wide and visited Earth after it had been greatly enhanced and remodeled including a Citadel Mall that brought the Citadel to Earth with many of the familiar vendors expanding to such regions.

Still, Karin found herself bored most days now, her days on the Normandy and under Commander Shepard’s leadership were definitely the best of her years. Karin often wondered if it might be better to retire as she stared at the portrait of Jane Shepard hanging on her wall. It was an image of the very day Shepard saved the galaxy. Defeated the Reapers and nearly sacrificed herself again to save humanity and everyone else. And yet, as fate would have it, Shepard found a way to not only save the galaxy, but herself included.

Karin couldn’t imagine how she would feel if Shepard hadn’t survived. After everyone she had lost, Jane was the closest to her, one of the few of the original Alliance she could turn to.

Karin eyed the old bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy. Her favorite. Jane had brought it to her the moment she was able to after the war. Karin laughed and decided to shelve it, not daring to drink it. Although today seemed as good of a day as any. Karin shook her head and looked around. Surely there was something she could do to keep herself entertained on this slow day.
