Chapter 3 by Admira Admira

Where exactly on Earth did the Lamp land, and who finds it?

In a backyard. Where Melody and Willow are enjoying the last sunny day before they have to go back to college.

*BONK!*

"Ow! What the fuck!? What was that?" Melody yelped, rubbing her sore forehead where something heavy had struck it out of nowhere, knocking her out of a pleasant dream. She sat up from her lounge chair, blinking teary eyes in the bright afternoon sunlight. It seemed her sunglasses had been knocked off her face as well. That or she had a concussion.

Beside the wincing blonde, her best friend Willow pointed at the ground between their lounge chairs. "That thing hit you right on the noggin. I think it's some kind of lamp?"

"Did someone throw it over the fence at me or something?" Melody lifted her short blonde bangs in one hand and held up her phone as a mirror in the other, pouting at the angry welt already appearing on her stubbornly pale forehead. I'm gonna spend the first week of sophomore year with a big stupid bruise on my face! She whined mentally.

Willow reached down to pick up the lamp, then hesitated before she could touch it. "I don't think so, Mel." She shook her head of dark brown curls and glanced around at the eight-foot high privacy fence. It was a good twenty feet away at the closest point. Too far for someone to throw and have it land with any gentleness. "It looked like it fell right out of the sky or something."

"What, like magic?" The blonde said derisively, then saw the look on her friend's face.

In the place of her usual confident smirk, Willow had a thoughtful frown. It looked wrong to Melody, like a mouse chasing a lion or the sun rising from the west. She was used to the tall and statuesque brunette taking charge in every situation, being a leader, the center of attention, a steady pillar for others to lean on. And, Melody couldn't help but think, confident enough to tan naked in her backyard.

Pretty much the opposite of Melody. Tall where she was short, curvy where she was skinny, Mediterranean tan and dark haired where she was pasty pale and ashy blonde. Gorgeous and desirable where Melody was plain and forgettable.

It would be enough to make a girl bitter and jealous, if not for the fact Willow was a wonderful person and an even better friend. The best Melody had, ever since second grade when Willow saw the shy blonde girl and decided to keep her.

"Maybe." The brunette finally said, snapping Melody out her guilty thoughts and drawing her attention to the lamp that fell from nowhere.

The two of them stared at the golden lamp as it sat innocently on the grass of Willow's backyard, apparently unscathed from the impact with Melody's head. It was in the shape of a classic Arabian oil lamp of Aladdin fame, and had an unearthly sheen to it that ever-so-slightly bent the light around it. As if the lamp was asking someone to pick it up.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Willow asked, brown eyes wide with awe.

"That a maybe real genie lamp fell out of the sky in your backyard?" Melody was more nervous, but still excited at the prospect of a genie there to grant her every wish. Our every wish, she corrected herself, Willow was here too. They'd have to share the infinite cosmic power.

Unless one of them decided to be greedy.

The two girls came to the same realization in the same second, eyeing each other in wary consideration.

"So..." Willow began, confidence returned.

"So...?"

"Who gets the first wish?"

"If this is even real, you mean." Melody said, mostly because someone needed to be skeptical here. The Lamp was the most Real thing either girl had ever seen. "And you should, it landed in your yard."

"After hitting your head. It chose you, Mel!" Willow grinned.

Melody rubbed the lump on her forehead. "I certainly don't feel chosen..."

Willow leaned forward to put a hand on the smaller girl's shoulder, smiled reassuringly, then poked her in the forehead.

"Ow!" Melody recoiled and started swatting her assailant in the arm. "Bitch!" She was smiling though.

"That's a mark of the chosen one if I've ever seen one!" The brunette laughed, easily withstanding her friend's playful ****.

Melody stifled a final giggle and took a few seconds to catch her breath. "Okay, seriously. Why should I get the wishes?"

Willow laid a hand on her heart, smiling with false innocence, and drawing Melody's attention to the large but very round and perky breasts that still had a slight sheen from the tanning lotion. Melody was, as always, struck with a mix of envy and admiration for her best friend's elegant yet somehow sinfully curvy body. It's not fair! I'd think those things were implants if I hadn't literally watched them grow! Even her nipples look delicious!

Wait, no. Bad thoughts, bad thoughts!

Once a red-faced Melody finally turned away from the sight and back up to look at Willow's grin, the topless girl continued, unaware or uncaring of the reason for her friend's distraction. "Because you're my best friend and I love you?" Her grin widened at the squeak that earned her. "Annnd because I know I can trust you not to go too crazy with the wishes."

"And w-what if I do, do something too crazy, huh? You ever think of that?"

"Like what?"

"Stuff!"

"...you're really provin' my point here, Mel."

As the two girls continued their 'discussion' on who should use the lamp first, the lamp itself wobbled on the grass, somewhat irritated by the delay. What guiding intelligence it had thought someone would have rubbed it by now. It chose this spatio-temporal location for a reason! The fate of this world's libido was at stake!

Neither Melody nor Willow noticed the magical object's annoyance.

Who finally rubs the Lamp?
