Chapter 4 by Willow Tindersmith Willow Tindersmith

Who finally rubs the Lamp?

Willow

"Okay, here's what we're gonna do", Willow announced. "I'm gonna rub this lamp, and if (if!) there's a genie, we're coming up with wishes together. You don't get to put all the responsibility on me."

The petite blonde nodded reluctantly.

Her tall friend took this as confirmation and, being too lazy to get up, stretched down from her lounge chair toward the grass where the lamp was lying. Normally, this would have resulted in her not quite reaching far enough and eventually falling out of her chair. However, this lamp was anything but normal. Sensing her intent, it impatiently leaped into her hand.

"Whoa whoa whoa, what was that?" Melody was shocked. "Holy shit, that lamp actually is magic!"

Willow resumed her relaxed position in the lounge chair and examined the object in her hand more closely. "This is heavier than it looks. Might be real gold with that weight." She turned it around. "Hey, there's some writing on the bottom of it! At least I think it's writing, I don't recognize the letters. Looks like something an AI would come up with." As she smirked at the notion, the lamp began to move on its own again, nuzzling into her left hand like a cat looking for head pats. "Looks like it really wants me to rub it. Do you think whatever is in there might be evil?"

Melody's face made an attempt to turn even paler. "Oh no, what if it's an evil genie and it tries to corrupt you?"

"Then you will have to snap me out of it. We can't find out that there's an actual magic lamp in our garden and just not rub it, can we? I'd live my whole life asking myself what could have been!" Willow tried to show confidence, although her heart was beating quite hard as well. "Alright then, here we go!"

She held out the lamp towards her friend, making a show of rubbing it with the spout pointing in her direction. Immediately, pink smoke started to burst forth from it, but instead of coalescing between them like the two connoisseurs of genie stories almost expected it to, it looped back and started to envelop and caress the tall brunette's curves.

"Ooh, that feels good!" Willow used her free hand to play with the smoke, driving some of it up and down her torso. "It kind of tingles everywhere it touches, but not in a bad way."

Melody was holding a hand in front of her eyes and peeked through her fingers. "Is everything okay? What's with all the smoke? Why isn't there a genie?"

Said smoke was now accumulating all around Willow's body, obscuring more and more of her bronze skin. "Mmmh, the way this feels, I think I'm gonna be the genie."

"You WHAT!?"

Willow couldn't feel her feet anymore, the firm feeling of sandals on her toes being replaced with a diffuse cloud of pleasure. "I don't mind it, honestly! It's like I'm being massaged from the inside out!" Her grip loosened and she dropped the magical artifact on the grass between their lounge chairs, smoke no longer issuing forth from its spout. In fact, the pink cloud surrounding her was beginning to flow in the other direction.

The blonde looked at the lamp, then the smoke, then at the place were Willow's feet ought to be. The tall girl's entire lower body had been replaced by an opaque pink plume, which was slowly but surely drifting in the direction of the lamp.

Melody dived off her lounge chair and into the grass, clutching at the magic item and pulling it away from its victim. "The smoke is eating you! Hold on, I'm gonna try to stop it!" She got up and yote the lamp into the small swimming pool. "Are you okay? Please tell me you're okay!"

What remained of the brunette's curves stopped writhing for a moment, long enough for her to look into her friend's eyes reassuringly. "I feel it pulling me. But I'm gonna be fine, I just know it." The plume of pink smoke drifted towards the pool, carrying her with it. "Just have to get into the lamp real quick, then you can rub me out." She blushed at her accidental innuendo.

This did nothing to assuage Melody's panic. "What do you mean you're gonna be fine!? You're gonna be some kind of genie, and what happens then? I get some wishes and then you're going away?"

"No, I don't--"

"I don't care what kind of wishes you offer me, I can't give you up!"

"I'm not going away! I can feel it, this isn't the kind of deal where I grand you three wishes and vanish!" Willow was now floating towards the pool at an alarming rate.

Melody went after her and grabbed her hand, which did nothing to stop her movement towards the lamp beneath the water. "Promise me! Promise me you'll stay yourself! Stay with me!"

"I promise. I'll be right back after you fish this lamp out of there!" She disappeared under the pool's surface, turning into what looked like a cloud of magenta ink. Like watching a video in reverse, the diffuse ink coalesced into a small droplet that was sucked into the lamp.

The short blonde frowned. At least it fell into the shallow end of the pool, I guess. She climbed into the cool water and minced over to where she saw its golden glint. It took a few tries to wrap her toes around it and get it to a height where she could grab it and lift it out without diving.

Taking the lamp back to the lounge chairs, Melody tried to shake the water out, only to discover that apparently none had even gotten inside. She took a deep breath and rubbed.

Is Willow okay?
