Chapter 12 by reaper13 reaper13

Should we go back separately? Or together?

I want to spend some more time with him

“Uhm, actually.” I say. “I would prefer it if you would walk me back … baby.”

Kinkade shrugs and answers, “Sure.”

I get up and take his hand. Then I and my future husband walk home together. At least, if I get pregnant tonight. I place one hand on my belly, below my belly button, and hope that Kinkade’s seed finds and fertilizes my egg. Or maybe two. Then I’ll have more children than my younger sister, as older sisters are supposed to.

When Kinkade and I get close enough to the village that we can see the building where I left my clothes, I thank Kinkade and kiss him goodnight, one the mouth, like wives do.

“Mind if we go on a date tomorrow, baby?” I ask.

“I don’t mind.” Kinkade responds.

I like how he is into all the same things I like. I feel he is going to be a good husband for me.

I leave Kinkade and head into the building. I find my clothes and put them on. Just as I am about to finish, the door swings open violently and makes me squeal. I turn to the door in surprise and see a very angry Lynet walk inside. I also notice her black necklace has been replaced by a white one.

“Oh, hi Lynet. Are you not happy with this year’s Samhain?” I ask.

“Shut up!” Lynet snaps at me.

I shy away from her words, almost dodging them. Yeah, she is not in the mood to talk. I hurry towards the other door and leave. Better to let her stew until she is ready to talk about it to someone.

When I get home, I discover my father has already gone to bed. My mother on the other hand is still awake. She always stays up for me on Samhain. Last year she did it for my sister too.

“So, how was it this year?” My mom asks.

I am smiling proudly and pull out Kinkade’s necklace in front of my mother. Then I announce, “I got one … and with any luck, next year you will be grandmother to another Samhain child.”

My mom’s face lights up and she asks, “Really? You’re going for a child this year?”

“Yeah, I got Kinkade’s seed. I’m going to be a mother.” I say happily.

“Oh! I’m so happy for you.” Mom says, and comes to me for a hug.

We talk into the late hours. About Kinkade, and marriage, and a pregnancy and a lot of other things. Eventually, we both get really tired and end up going to bed. Despite how tired I am, I am having a hard time getting to sleep. I keep on thinking about Kinkade and how next month I may already be wedded to him. I should probably start seeing him more. Maybe I’ll take him on a picknick, tomorrow. Yeah.

What's next?
