What's next?
I think I will Keep It?
"I think I will hold onto it." I shrugged.
"Very well, lets go inside and see about getting you some armor." She smiled and I nodded. We went inside where I saw another ogress putting stuff on the shelf.
"Asura. Always a pleasure to see you my dear." Tomen said.
"Funny, I think the same thing when you leave." She crossed her arms.
"I think she is warming up to me." Tomen said looking back at me.
"This is my daughter Sura." Gova said.
"Daughter. So does your husband work here as well?" I said trying to make small talk.
"No, orcs don't marry and my father is dead." Sura gave me a look.
"Oh, sorry." I said quickly.
"Why, did you do it?" Sura stepped toward me as she place a hand on a blade at her side.
"What no." I put my hands up.
"Please excuse her, Ogre humor is a acquired taste." Goza replied. Sura gave me a smirk and walked past. "So what are you interested in?"
"Light armor I guess." Hell knows I couldn't afford anything heavy.
"He almost got his heart cut out saving my ass." Tomen spoke up.
"So this is the one?" Goza smiled.
"He saved you. I would charge him double and put it on the Dvergars tab." Sura gave Tomen a look.
"Are you a fighter?" Goza asked. Hell knows I didn't look like one. Especially to the two ogresses.
"Archer. Well hunter." I said.
"So you would want something light weight. Chainmail perhaps." Goza showed me to a chainmail vest she had lying on a shelf.
"Very nice." I smiled touching it. I really didn't know much about armor making but it looked to be decent quality.
"It won't completely stop a piercing weapon such as a well made arrow or prevent your ribs from getting shattered if you are hit with a mace but it can stop most slashing attacks. And it's light enough you can wear it under your clothes."
"How much?" I asked.
"Five silver." She said
"That much?" I looked back.
"Yes, metal is a scarce resource as of late with the impending war and chain mail is very time consuming to make. I am probably one of the few ogres that even make it."
"Very well. Can't really be a repeat customer if I get killed. Can you throw in a pair of bracers as well. Mine are a little worn." Even after shooting a bow for years I liked to wear leather bracers to prevent the string from hitting my arm if I had to make a shot in a hurry.
"He sounds like the Dvergar." Sura gave me a look.
"I have a couple of iron ones collecting dust over there I will throw in."
I walked out sliding on my new bracers to test the fit. I could fix the leather which was a little worn. I just wanted something to keep my arms from getting cut off if someone came at me again with a sword. It seemed to be a common occurrence these days. It was getting late when we headed back toward home. Tomen headed to his shop and I headed back towards the tavern where I heard music. As I entered I noticed the place was packed like yesterday but it was quit as I heard singing. I looked to see that it was rose by the hearth who played the lute as she sung. The entire tavern was listing to her sing as if entranced by her song as she sung a sad melody. I stood there listening as I leaned against the wall. She had a lovely voice. When she finished people clapped and cheered. She blushed slightly and did a little bow. She went to the bar where her father had been tending. I paced Helga who smiled and gave a little wink as she went to bring drinks to a table. I went up to the bar.
"You are really good." I smiled at Rose.
"Thanks. I wanted to be a bard when I was younger." She smiled.
"You got the talent." I nodded.
"What can I get you?" The old man asked.
"Some food and wine would be nice." I replied. "Hows the deer?"
"Good, we should have some good eating once it is finished curing." After eating I decided to hit the hey and went up to my room. It had been a long day and I just wanted to get off of my feet.
