Chapter 7

Do you pick up the phone?
I guess?
Who the hell could be calling you right now?
You audibly groaned, gasping as blush creeped up your cheeks. Was that really how you sounded right now? Your voice which, when you had gone to sleep, had been deep and gruff was now buttery smooth and as light as a feather. You almost sounded like… you guess it, Mia Khalifa. Fuck, what was with all of these coincidences? Your voice was similar to hers, but just different enough for a stranger to know you weren’t her. And your body likewise was very similar to hers, but it was different… not that anybody would notice, of course.
Sighing, you walked briskly over to your phone. Your fingers grabbed the buzzing device and your thumb swiped the green “Call” symbol from left to right as you brought the phone to your ear. All you heard was static.
Great, a waste of time…
Then, the phone suddenly came to life as a voice echoed out of it. It sounded like someone was far away and shouting, almost like an echo you would hear if you were deep in a cave. The fuck? First you magically turned into Mia Khalifa, and now a weird echoey voice was talking to your phone… What was next, wizards?
You didn’t want the answer to that.
“Hello, John, is it?” You couldn’t get over how weird the voice sounded. They were a guy for sure, but you didn’t recognize their voice from anywhere.
At first you hesitated to speak. Fear was wrapping around your mind, it was clouding your thoughts and strangling any thoughts that bubbled to the surface. However, with a deep breath, you mustered up the courage to speak.
“Uhm hi… actually it’s–”
“Oh right! It’s Jane now!”
What… how did he…
“I know how to fix your condition, Jane.”
“Uh, condition? I–I don’t have any condition.”
You were trying to protest, but whoever this was was having none of it.
“Shush, be quiet. I don’t want to hear any of those funky stories you cooked up. Just… meet me at the Tennis Courts on West Avenue.”
And with that, the phone hung up. You soon got a text message with the address and it had a little “Smiley Face” emoji sent right after it.
Hu?

Do you go to the Tennis Courts?
