Chapter 108 by TheSpectator TheSpectator

What's your idea?

I'll pick Scarlet. (But I'm still going to try for both...)

Scarlet smirks when she hears her name come out of her mouth. “Good boy~!” She says and then reclines back into her cot.

“What do I tell Alexandra then?” You ask.

She makes a face and shakes her head. “I don’t know. You got her involved, so now that’s your problem. The way I see it, she knows about us and clearly doesn’t care. Listen, the cat is out of the bag, so it should really be you that handles this.”

“Gee,” you sigh. “Thanks.”

“Think with your head next time and not with your dick. Now, get out of here. You don’t have a ton of time to think of an excuse.”

You say something to the degree of “don’t worry about it” before leaving the living space. It was time to think of how to get them in a position you wanted. TC1 ran everything, at least that’s what Jordyn said. You’ll have to talk to her and find out where you can go, wherever she is…

It doesn’t take you long to find Jordyn. She’s with one of the other tiger cubs, cutting open boxes and going through everything. Then, before you can get within talking distance to her, she cuts her hand with the blade she’s using to assist her search.

“Ow!” She yanks back on her hand while dropping the bladed instrument. “Gosh darn it!”

Jordyn holds her hand briefly and then examines the cut. She gives a PG-rated curse and looks up, spotting you instantly. She turns her attention to the person beside her and asks them to fetch a first aid kit.

You close the remainder of the distance and nod at her. “Sorry about your hand.”

“Life goes on,” she sighs, looking a little smug. “What’s going on? You have the face of someone who is looking for something.”

“****,” you say flatly. “I’m looking for ****.”

Jordyn slowly nods and scans the room you’re in. “Well, we’re in the right place. What kind are you looking for, exactly?”

“Something that makes someone, uh, lucid. Non-hostile and funny.”

“Well, our weed supplements went up in smoke months ago,” she smirks again and then continues. “The harder stuff is already paid and expected in full once we get it moving.”

“So you don’t have anything?” You ask.

“Eh, no. I didn’t say that,” Jordyn confirms. She gestures with her head and tells you to open a box. “Canceled order from not long ago. Recalled from the sender, but our contact was dead. They’re energy pills, more or less at least.”

“Energy pills? That’s not what I’m looking for.”

“Lemme finish, sir.” Jordyn smiles. “I have no experience with them, but the others said they had the side effect of the users getting all funny and weird while under the influence. Supposedly, they even felt each other’s emotions, whatever that means.”

“So, they don’t work?”

Jordyn shrugs, spying at her wound for a second before looking back at you. “Never used them, but from what I hear, they make you funny, or, uhm, funnier?”

You open the box she gestured to and open it. Inside were bottles of pills, red in color and large in diameter. “Just take one.” The back of the bottle says. You ask if she’s sure you can then, and you’re met with a tight smile and a nod.

Jordyn tries to finger but remembers she’s bleeding, so she just gives you a wink instead. You guess you should read the description and piece together these were supposed to be used in a group or a team of people.

“Long-lasting energy! Use only at the start of battle or on guard duty. Do not use it when alone. Pills offer telepathic sensations with party members to allow users to become acutely aware of feelings, emotions, and urges. Solitary use may put the user in emotional distress due to; vivid memories, hearing voices, phantom sensations, ghostly apparitions, and sudden erections.

Side effects in groups include; deep depression, dark thoughts, drowsiness, loss of hearing, vomiting of blood, temporary blindness, cancer, permanent penis reduction, permanent breast reduction, hair loss, and sexual thoughts.”

There’s some more text to it, but you hide the bottle when you shuffle back into the main room. Scarlet is on her cot, idly talking to Alexandra as she fingers through a magazine. She’s in shorts and a loose white shirt, and her blonde hair looks dark and damp. A yawn escapes her mouth, your eyes meet, and a smile forms.

“There he is,” Scarlet announces. “Alexandra was just talking about you.”

“You make it sound like I was worried.” Alexandra scoffs. “I needed to know your whereabouts because you’re mine.”

The rough draft you formed in your brain becomes into a solid plan, a plan that has high risk but an outstanding reward. “We should have something to drink tonight to celebrate our first mission together as a team. We got here without problems.”

Scarlet smirks, no doubt remembering the last time you both drank together. She glances at you but doesn’t say anything. Alexandra, on the other hand, smiles. “OK, I like that sound of that.” She gives Scarlet a quick glance and bites gently down on her lower lips, perhaps thinking you three would still be together.

Before she can say anything, though, you bubble and shoot your arms out. “I’m not used to working in teams, but these last couple of months have been eye-opening what a couple of well-paid contractors can do!”

Alexandra blinks. “Well, I guess you’re not wrong. But this is hardly the best team I’ve had the pleasure to work for.”

“That’s such fucking bullshit,” Scarlet grows, now peering above her papers. “This will be the best team you will ever work with. You have me and Warren that broke us out of the heights. So have be it, not perfectly, but no one died. So you’re telling me there was a crew you worked with that could have done that better? Yeah, right!”

Her outbursts surprise both of you. And Alexandra takes offense. “Well, if you think about it, Warren wouldn’t have had to get you out if you didn’t fuck up in the first place, you dumb bitch.”

Scarlet shoots up to say something, but say something. “Whatever the case, I know that I haven’t had a group like this. I’ve with a colorful array of people before, and this… this is really good, guys.”

Scarlet turns to you. “And why are you acting so weird? You don’t talk like this. You haven’t talked like this since ever.”

“Still running off my high from this morning,” you smirk. Scarlet’s cheeks begin to match her name. Finally, she tells you to shut up. Somehow, this doesn’t spring any questions from Alexandra, but you guess she’s too busy imagining how to turn this around.

Now that Scarlet’s flustered, she gets off her cot and pushes her way past you. “I’m going to take a walk around. You two clowns can talk amongst each other. I’ll see you at dinner.”

Before Alexandra can drag you into anything, you more or less do the same thing. You don’t want to scramble your efforts too much, and now that you have a chance to **** one or both girls, you quickly deduct all distractions and walk around the tunnel network until it’s dinner.

How do you spend your freetime?
