Is the Tar'oth successful? Who does she find?
Hunting a junior librarian mage
The Tar'oth fluttered out the door and wound her way down the spiral stairs from the attic tower Aaralon had so foolishly summoned her too. She was good at hiding at the best of time and with her Mistress' shadow magic she was nearly invisible and had much less of a magical signature. That was important in this particular College. The place was full of very powerful wizards. But there are much less powerful wizards and students too. The Tar'oth knew her Mistress would not be happy with a student. She wanted someone with a little more magical prowess.
It was late and night. The Tar'oth approved of this and in some ways it made her task easier - she didn't even need to concentrate on sneaking. More seriously it was a hindrance - no one was about.
She had a plan of her own. The librarians. The librarians often worked late and the junior librarians were taken from those students who had graduated, experienced about two or three years outside the College and then returned for further study. A junior librarian had the freedom to come and go - so wouldn't be missed for a few days. The Tar'oth hoped that a junior librarian would have enough power to keep Mistress happy and, more, importantly, help fully recharge.
But there was a choice. Going to the library was a sure fire way of finding a librarian but there would be junior librarians, librarians and even senior librarians. An alternative would be to head off to the librarian sleeping quarters or perhaps one of the quiet study rooms in the west wing off the library.
Where does the Tar'oth go next?
