Chapter 5 by Wulfblade Wulfblade

How embarrassing. Did she get her stuff back in the end?

That local shopkeep’s an old buddy of yours, who often cuts you a good deal when you come in to pawn off someone’s wardrobe. You told him not to sell those clothes and armor to anyone but their erstwhile elven owner, for a 1000 gold. If she couldn’t afford the outrageous price (which she obviously couldn’t given that you took all her money), she could instead select from a list of embarrassing chores you’d written up for her, each one rewarded with a coupon valued a certain monetary amount. Once she had performed a number of chores that together added up to 1000 gold or more, she could hand in her coupons to get her clothes and gear back.

You wrote up a long list, and few individual items exceeded 250 gold.

Of course she could go look for another shop for something more affordable but it just so transpired every store in a three-day radius somehow ran out of clothes to sell. Robbing someone was also ill-advised with how numerous and keen-eyed the constables were along this particular stretch of road, and the regional culture really frowned on charity: if you wanted something you had to earn it… and you offered her a damn extensive list to earn it with.
