Hotel Rexford

As you disembarked from the train you took a look around at the roving crowds of people before making your way through North Wellington. The cobblestone roads were filled with model-Ts as you and Anthony hailed a cab before boarding it.

“Where to?” The cabbie asked you sat down Anthony sound asleep in your arms. “Hotel Rexford.” you said looking down at your son. The cabbie nodded before the two of you made your way down to the hotel you called home. Initially it had been a five star hotel with plenty of business but after a falling out with some of the noble families it had fallen out of favor before almost going out of business completely.

However with some changes and a couple million maxims you had managed to not only buy the hotel but also turn it into another profitable investment in the ever growing list of business under the BlackThorn Industries corporate umbrella.

You handed the cabbie a handful of maxims before stepping out into the unforgiving rain Wellington Rain as you looked up to see the bright lights of the Hotel Rexford. Quickly one of the doormen recognizing you as the owner quickly opened an umbrella before walking over to shield you and Anthony from the cold rain.

“Mr. BlackThorn my apologies we were not expecting you this evening.” The doorman said as he led you and Anthony into the hotel lobby where hundreds of higher class guests wandered around checking in our out if the hotel.

“Don’t worry about it I wasn’t planning to come either.” You said to the doorman as he walked back outside. As you looked around you soon made your way to the front desk where two twin sisters sat addressing the guests before one of them addressed you.

“Ahh Mr. BlackThorn a pleasure to see you again we were not expecting you tonight how can we help you sir?” One of the sisters said addressing you. “Is my suite ready tonight I may be here a while.” You said as water began to drip off your clothes.

“Why yes your suite is ready and available shall I also send for some fresh clothes and room service as well?” The receptionist said as she picked up the phone. “Yes please and have them send up my favorite meal and the items on this list.” You said handing the receptionist a small folded note.

“Very good Mr. BlackThorn here is your suite key, room and laundry services should be up shortly.” she said before speaking into the phone to relay your instructions.

You nodded taking the elevator to the top floor where your private suite was. You entered your suite and quickly set down your rifle and then placing Anthony on the bed before peeling off your more soaked clothes you soon began to dry off Anthony on the bed before rocking him back to sleep. As he began to drift off once more you soon laid him on the bed surrounding him in pillows on the big bed before peeling off the rest of your clothes.

You sighed stepping into the shower where you closed your eyes as the scalding hot water fell against your skin. You were alone again all alone no you couldn’t think that way you weren’t alone you had a son you had to be strong for yourself for your son.

Sighing you turned off the water wrapping yourself in a bathrobe before leaving the bathroom. As you laid in the big bed next to your son you closed your eyes wondering if this was what your future would be the life of a single father? As you allowed your mind to relax you took a deep breathe before releasing it as you heard knocking on your door. “At least I don’t have to think on an empty stomach.” You said to yourself as you stood up and walked to the door.
