Host Interview: Shar
Following up Laura's resurrection twist on Harem Hotel: The HH, Season 200, we have interviewed the esteemed Shar, Host of Harem Hotel: Haunted Castle for her insights on the season's developing story. Could we have predicted it? What will it lead to? Stay tuned as Shar shares her thoughts on Arabella's latest development, and on the cast that makes Harem Hotel: The HH, Season 200, so special!
Shar sits in her office chair facing an unknown interviewer who is seated off screen. The tall redhead is wearing her typical sleeveless black dress and sitting back at her ease with a sardonic smile on her face.
"I'd like to ask you some questions about Arabella's season if you don't mind." A blue-skinned, blue-haired woman asks in preamble, to establish the goal of their talk. She's completely naked, sitting politely on a chair in front of Shar's own, holding a leather notebook and a fountain pen.
"Of course. I'm an open book," Shar laughs, knowing exactly what would be asked, but going along with it.
Musical laughter comes from the interviewer as well. The camera pans closer to Shar, picking up her pale skin, burgundy red hair and completely black eyes. The interviewer is now off-camera. "First off, as all viewers know, different seasons of Harem Hotel often tweak the rules to suit their purposes. What surprised you most about The HH's rules?"
"I must admit I found myself quite pleasantly surprised by the IVA. Seeing a lesbian in a man's harem is always quite distasteful, so Arabella giving Sam a way out from the usual was very refreshing, even if Claire had to dig to find it for her."
"Yes, nothing quite like it on other seasons so far, unfortunately." The interviewer sighs, seemingly at past mistakes that were not of her choosing. With a rustle of paper, she continues. "Next, as all viewers know by now, the latest twist in an already twist-laden season involves the resurrection of the Master's childhood best friend, first love and, dare we say it, soulmate: Laura Ashford. Did you see Laura's resurrection coming, or were you genuinely shocked?"
Shar laughs again. "Oh of course, she's been the main character this whole time. Her arrival was inevitable."
The interviewer hums a musical agreement, trying to remain impartial. "Well, most of our viewers know that you are something of an expert in resurrections yourself, so perhaps that played a part. Now tell me, how do you think Laura's been changed by dying and returning?"
"I expect we will see many of the classic signs of PTSD in addition to her feelings of being disjointed and lost in time. Trauma to her soul, wherever it may have been, is quite likely as well even though she seems to have no memories of that period so far. The ritual itself may have effects as well tied to her rebirth on her, and the others around her. Only time can tell."
"Such rituals are dangerous then?"
"Extremely. **** does not lightly give up those who have passed beyond. That time manipulation could not be used to earmark Laura's soul surprises me, and I can envision how it complicated Arabella's task enormously, despite her skills."
The interviewer coughs. "I see. Well then, what's the first thing you would ask (in order) to Laura, Andy, and Arabella?"
"Interesting." Shar taps her lip with a long, nearly black nail for a time. "I would ask all three the same question. 'Was it worth it?' I expect the answer from each would be a solid yes, but the affirmation would be good for all."
"So, what do you think will happen to the harem, with Laura's return?"
"At first, more of what we are seeing now. Jealousy, uncertainty, fear, and doubt. Soon, drama and pain. Hopefully after that, healing and growth. Andi had been very good at binding the girls into a whole that works so far, I think they can ultimately survive Laura's inclusion."
"Here's a tough one. Was Laura's **** preventable?"
The tall redhead laughs and shakes her head, causing her blood red locks to sway. "That very much depends upon how you view fate. It was either meant to be and nothing could have stopped the inevitable, or it was a random set of falling dominoes that could have fallen out differently a dozen ways. Of course, if one were inclined to dabble in time manipulation, all manner of deaths can be prevented. Not this one, though, apparently, suggesting there was something more to it than we know so far."
"I see. Well, you are of course an expert there as well, so I will take your word for it. So, what do you think is Arabella's final goal?"
More laughter. "Which one? Ratings? A whole, happy harem? To prove that she could? Perhaps to keep an ancient promise? Maybe all the above and more. Perhaps having lost more than she could bear over uncountable years, she needed to cheat **** itself, if only the once."
The unknown interviewer can be barely seen, nodding along. "Picking up on what you just said, about ancient promises and uncountable years, what does Laura's resurrection mean for the larger mythology?"
"Again, which one? She's blending at least three. And resurrections have been performed before, they will again. With or without the Gods."
The interviewer pauses for a moment, as if **** to ask the next questions. "Arabella accepted a contract extension quite some time ago, but as the extension is running out, this is officially Arabella's final season. Do you think it will go out with a bang?"
Shar looks grim then. "One way or another. Arabella's retirement ends an era, and Hosts like her do not tend to just fade."
The unknown interviewer coughs again. "Hosts have been known to fade before. What don't we understand about what's happening?"
Laughing again, the pale Host looks less grim. "What do we understand? Arabella is playing all kinds of games behind the curtain, and with cards up her sleeves as well. There will be more twists ahead, you can count on that."
"Indeed, quite likely. Can you describe what makes The HH fundamentally different from other Host spaces?"
Shar gestures back at the black stone walls behind her. "Every Host's space is different. It is a reflection of who and what we are. We mold it as much as it guides us. Even those who choose to copy others make their own unique marks upon it. Arabella is no different in this."
"Final question." The blue haired interviewer says. "Did you believe Laura could come back? Do you believe she should have?"
"Yes and yes. No matter how well Andi knit them together, there would always have been a void without her. And as I said before, Laura was inevitable."
The woman offscreen can be heard closing a notebook. "Thank you for your time. Any final words on the subject before we finish?"
The redhead nodded, looking grim again. "This is going to be a turbulent time for them all. Andi, Laura, Arabella, and the rest. More than ever they will need the blue-haired rock to support them and hold them together. may she not be torn apart by it."
