Home Alone

“Mom? Dad? Uncle Albert? Taylor? Is anyone here?” Yelled a half-Asian woman as she walked through her house in her pajamas.

Jamie was supposed to visit her extended family in China for the holidays. But unbeknownst to her, her parents forgot her in the hurry.

After she searched high and low, she sat down with the realization that she was forgotten.

“HELL YEAH!!!”

Which filled her with joy.

She hated that annual trip to China. And since her family in America was already as large as it was, she’d never been home alone in her twenty years of life. So she did the first thing she always wanted to do…

She practically ripped off her pajamas, standing proudly in the kitchen with her hands on her hips. “Merry Christmas to me!”

Jamie sang in the kitchen as she made her favorite breakfast; chocolate-covered pancakes with bananas. She was the only in her family who loved those, so her parents only ever made them in a blue moon. She flopped them on a plate as she sat down on the couch and watched her favorite movie on Netflix. She rested her hand behind her head, took a huge bite from her pancake and spoke in bliss. “This is the life.”

“Hit me baby, one more time!” Sang Jamie, as she a hairbrush as an impromptu microphone and swung around the house with the radio on max. The freedom she experienced was intoxicating to her, so much so that she didn’t even mind that she sang passed the window.

Which was a sight which was now beholden by Keith and Tim Carpenter, her neighbors across the street.

“Dude, look through the window!” Said Keith.

“Why? What’s so special ab- oh my God, Jamie is naked!”

“Amazing, right? I knew she was playing hard to get. She obviously does this to make a move onto me.”

“Get outta here! She does this for me!” Answered Tim undignified.

“Please, it’s a miracle she doesn’t call Van Helsing on you with that ugly mug of yours.”

“We have the same mug, you moron!”

“Whatever. There’s only one way to prove who is right…”
