Chapter 15 by PiZzA101 PiZzA101

Is anyone home?

Her dad(s)

Alice quickly sprinted to hide behind a pile of logs, to hide herself from view. She heard someone around the corner moving something, and grunting. Kristen looked towards Alice confused, then made a face as if a sudden realization dawned upon her.

Kristen sympathetically looked to Alice. “Sorry, I forgot to tell you, my parents are ga-“ Kristen started to say, but was interrupted by a man coming around the corner. His dark black beard, and plaid jacket made him look exactly like a magazine lumberjack. He even had the axe in his hands to play the part. He waved towards them both, and shouted “Hello! Krissy who is your friend?” He said with a slight Russian accent.

Alice quickly ducked behind the pile of logs, desperately trying to hide. Kristen laughed, and pointed towards the logs her friend was hiding behind. “This is Alice! She’s Mrs. Janice’s other granddaughter!” She said, smiling towards her dad.

“Ah. Why is she hiding? If she is shy she has no need to be. I won’t bite, I promise.” Alice’s dad asked curiously.

Kristen struggled to find the right words, since Alice refused to reveal herself. “Well... It’s a long story. She’s doing some sort of dare, where she can’t wear any clothes and has to run to Mrs. Janice’s house. She came all the way from Mr. Harper’s field!” Kristen explained quickly.

Alice’s dad looked puzzled for a moment, then had a moment of clarity. “Aha! She’s come of age hasn’t she? Is that it?” He asked eagerly.

Kristen shook her head up and down. “Yeah. She’s not like Beatrice though. She’s very modest, and very embarrassed to be seen even by me” Kristen explained, shrugging.

“Well tell her she’s welcome to stay here as long as she needs. I’ll turn around, and get back to my yard work. Just let me know when I can come in the house.” He said with a smile.

“Alright.” Kristen said, watching her dad go back around the corner. She looked to Alice, who had her head barely over the mile of logs. Kristen laughed, and stepped off her horse. She waved towards the front door. “Come on, my pop isn’t home, so it should be just us inside.” Kristen said. She quickly followed it up with a loud request: “Can you put the horse back for me dad?”

“Got it. Take care.” Alice heard around the corner. Quickly, she darted out from behind the logs to the front door which Kristen held open.

Once inside, she could see the interior was small, with a step ladder leading up to a second floor, and the main portion of the rooms downstairs. To her left, was a couch facing a small TV on the opposite wall. To her right, was a small kitchen area. Down the hall looked to be 3 doors, one leading to a restroom.

Kristen walked past Alice, and down the hall. “If you need anything, I’m using the restroom real quick. Feel free to eat something” she said, promptly shutting the bathroom door.

Alice took a glass from a stack of cups, and filled it with water. She gulped it down quickly, quenching the thirst she had acquired after running and dodging for so long.

Next, she took a look around the house. All of the pictures were of Kristen at some age, her dad, and some other man in the pictures she hadn’t met. She found a photo of the two men kissing, and finally deduced Kristen’s parents were gay. At least she figured. Either way, she was relieved that they probably wouldn’t be attracted to her in that case.

As she looked at a few more pictures, a man came around the corner, the exact man in all the photos before that had been missing.

Neither said anything for a few seconds, too shocked to move. Eventually, Alice dropped her glass and screamed a short “AHH!” as she covered herself quickly. The thin, gray-haired man wearing a blue robe quickly turned around. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know Krissy had friends over. I am so sorry.” He spoke apologetically. Shortly afterwards, the front door burst open, Alice’s other sad bursting into the room.

“What happened? Is everyone ok?” He asked concerned.

“Yeah Jack everything is fine, I just scared this poor girl half to ****. She’s fine.” The balding man explained.

Jack slowly walked towards Alice. “I am sorry, I forgot to tell Krissy he came home early. That’s my mistake.”

Alice felt like she could just die from the embarrassment, but noticed something strange. Not either of them had pointed out her nudity. She took a few deep breaths, calming down. “Sorry. You just scared me. I’m fine.” Alice explained, an embarrassed smile spread across her face.

As she spoke, the door to the bathroom opened.
