Helping Citizens

One of the most important parts of being royalty is keeping the citizens happy. Of course, her tutors have taught her time and time again that the citizens happiness isn't that important. Their needs are. It's better for someone to be safe, fed, and have a clear direction rather than be happy. Princess Elana understood, but disagreed with her tutors. It was equally important for everyone to be happy.

She was one of the only royals that people truly liked. She didn't hide in the castle like her parents. Princess Elana would host events where people could interact with her, she'd visit people offering encouragement. Her parents weren't happy abouts it at all. They felt like it was too unsafe and that it'd make the citizens greedy, make them think that the princess has to do what they asked. It was the origin of a lot of arguments. Her parents eventually relented, agreeing to let her meet up, host her events, and help people as long as she had enough knights with them, and listened to their input.

At first, the princess wouldn't listen to the knights. She was nice to them, but if they said it was time to go, she wouldn't listen. Of course, those moments were all part of a test that her parents put in place. She was punished for not listening and eventually learned to obey the knights and would pass these tests. They barely happened anymore.

Today was one of the days that the princess would help her citizens. She had a line of people waiting to ask for help. One at a time, they'd be let past the guards and ask their question.
