Chapter 4 by dolpa1 dolpa1

Oh no.

Help Gina with the laundry. Of course.

The sound of running water filled the apartment, the steady hum of the shower echoing softly from the bathroom. Gina’s towel hung neatly on a hook just inside the door, along with her clothes, carelessly discarded after her busy day. She hadn’t noticed how close the laundry pile had gotten to the bathroom, nor how accessible her things were from the other room.

Meanwhile, Big Bird sat cross-legged on the couch, his gaze flicking between the book in his lap and the sound of the shower running. His thoughts drifted back to the laundry pile he had spotted earlier.

His feathers ruffled slightly in excitement as his eyes darted toward the bathroom door, and his beak parted with an innocent realization.

“Oh! She’s in the shower!” Big Bird murmured to himself, his head bobbing up and down. “That’s the perfect time! I can get started on the laundry now!”

He smiled to himself, completely unaware that this seemingly helpful gesture was about to spiral into a hilarious misunderstanding.

Big Bird’s gaze fell once again on Gina’s clothes, now hanging just inside the bathroom door. His eyes widened. The clothes hanging there—well, those counted as laundry too, didn’t they?

“Well, I’ll just start with these!” Big Bird decided, proudly puffing out his chest. “No need to wait around any longer. She’s gonna be so surprised when she comes out!”

With that, Big Bird stood up and made his way to the bathroom, unaware of the trouble his good intentions were about to cause. The stage was set.

Big Bird tiptoed up to the bathroom door, which was still slightly ajar. The soft sound of running water filled the air, mixed with Gina’s cheerful voice singing “What’s the Name of That Song?” from inside. Her singing was lighthearted and full of energy, and the upbeat tune masked the quiet creak of the door as Big Bird leaned in to peek.

Inside, Gina’s clothes were hanging on a hook just inside the door, a shirt and a pair of jeans neatly arranged. Her towel hung on the towel rack, but as Big Bird's eyes scanned the space, he also noticed a pair of undergarments hanging along with the rest of her clothes. Without a second thought, he carefully gathered everything together—shirt, jeans, underwear, and towel—all tucked under his wing.

"This is going to make Gina so happy..." he whispered to himself, his feathers rustling as he gently picked everything up. His mind was made up—he was doing something nice for Gina, and she'd be so grateful when she saw her laundry already taken care of.

Once everything was securely under his wing, Big Bird softly closed the bathroom door and made his way toward the front door, all set to head to the laundromat. His heart was full of pride for his good deed, completely unaware that his well-meaning actions would soon lead to a hilarious and unexpected chain of events. As the door clicked softly shut behind him, the quiet hum of the shower still drifted through the apartment. The moment passed without notice—just one more sound in a peaceful evening. But inside the bathroom, that peace was about to break.
