Chapter 2 by MegaMarshmallow MegaMarshmallow

Who dares come across the manor?

Helena, Future Hex Maniac Pokemon Trainer

Deep within the forest, there is said to be an old chateau, rumor is, that it is haunted by something neither human nor pokemon. At least that was what everyone said. Helena disagreed adamantly but not one of her friends agreed with her. It had to be merely ghost type pokemon, Helena reasoned as she journeyed deep into the forest, and I am going to prove it.

After hours delving deeper and deeper into the dark forest, Helena was both at a loss and lost. She could tell the sun had already set. The shadows of the trees now cast by faint moonlight. Finally, she saw it, a building, hidden behind the overgrowth of the forest. That would be difficult to get to.

Luckily, someone else had already tried as an old rusted mower lay half covered in vines and roots. Helena had just the answer for this problem. She reached into her bag and pulled out a pokeball. "Go, Rotom!" She said throwing the device forward. It burst open and from it appeared a bulbous orange plasmic pokemon with a spike on its head that made them look like a lightning rod. "Possess that mower and clear the way for me."

"Ro!" Rotom cried as they flew forward, turning into a lightning bolt that struck the rusted mower before bringing it back to life. "Tooooooom!" The mower whirled back up and cut through the plants in no time. Once the way was cleared Rotom returned from the mower and hovered around Helena. "Rotom?"

"Good work buddy. You stay out now, we're going in," Helena said, trying to pretend her desire to have her pokemon around was not just because she felt her anxiety rising as she walked towards the chateau. It looked so old and untouched for years, yet, when she pushed on the doors they opened with ease to a very dark parlour room. "Rotom get my phone out and put on some light."

"Ro-ro-ro," buzzed Rotom as they dived into Helena's shoulder bag. There were a few sparks from within there before out came her smart phone, now orange and possessed by the ghost/electric pokemon. The flashlight function turned on, illuminating the interior of the chateau. "Yep, as expected, one creepy building."

"Tell me about it," Helena mumbled in response to Rotom speaking through her phone speaker. "You better start recording this. We'll spend the night here and prove them all wrong but they'll want more than just our words."

"You got it but may I suggest fixing your hair first? You look rather… unkempt."

Helena rolled her eyes. Rotom always got like this when they possessed her phone. More snotty and vain but only about her appearance and not their own. It was like the phone itself had some sort of influence upon the pokemon. Or at least her social media apps. Trying to get Rotom to help her take pictures was a nightmare.

"Fine, show me my 'unkemptness'," Helena sighed, finding it easier to just go along with Rotom-Phone than argue with them. Rotom was happy to do this, turning on the front camera as it turned around to show Helena her appearance. The light illuminating the room along with the glow of the screen was enough to see by. "I'm not that bad…"

"Girrrrrrrrrl, you are a bit of a walking disaster. Welllllllll more than usual that is," Rotom-Phone said, rolling their eyes in a similar fashion to how Helena had. "What little make-up you do wear is messed up from sweating out there. The jacket tied around your waist with that skirt combo is so last season, like denim, seriously? Your hair not only has sticks and leaves in it but is half tied up, half not. It looks like you can't decide between the two. You even have a scrunchie on your wrist. Put it up or let it down girl.

"Not to mention your stick figure of a body in that baggy white shirt is not doing you any favours. At least you show off some leg with those socks that reach up to below your knees but the red shoes are… juvenile. What are you? A little school girl? I mean for crying out loud you are an adult woman. You should at least dress like one even if your body is flat as a…"

Helena reached over and muted the phone. "That's enough of that," She said, her face as red as the top half of her pokeball. "You have to learn how to be polite dude. So not cool. I'm fine."

Despite her words, Helena did take the time to pick the leaves and twigs out of her hair. She also untied her jacket and put it on, not because she agreed with Rotom…but because it was getting cold in this building already. She decided to tie her hair up in a more simple ponytail, best to keep it practical. She also caught herself checking her body over. Hands trailing down her chest and to her lower abdomen before shifting to her sides and then her butt. She was, embarrassingly, flat. So what if Rotom was right about that? They did not have to say it!

"Are you recording, yet?" She asked Rotom, who buzzed once with the vibration feature. That meant yes. "Were you just recording me!" Helena gasped as Rotom buzzed once again and she realised there was now a video of her feeling herself up. "I am so deleting that later. Start recording the stupid chateau, not me!" Rotom buzzed an affirmative and began to float slowly around the room as Helena stepped deeper into it. "It's just a normal building…"

Normal might not be the most accurate description of it. The place was old and dusty. Seemingly untouched for years. It was also big with so many rooms and halls branching off just the parlour. Not to mention the staircase that went up to an open floor second level with even more doors and hallways. Someone could very well get lost within here. Good thing she had Rotom recording everything so they could find their way back.

A pink-purple light shone from the darkness of a half opened door. "What's that? Any idea, Rotom?" Helena asked as she turned towards the door. Two buzzes from the pokemon told her that they had no clue either. "Maybe someone else is exploring here… or it's a pokemon. Let's go have a look."

Helena walked towards the door. As she got within an arm's reach of the door Rotom-Phone came flying down, buzzing repeatedly. "What is it?" Helena asked as she turned to look at the phone screen. Text appeared on the screen.

'Wi-fi signal detected. Unknown network. Network name 'Keystone'. Perhaps another Explorer?'

'Also you actually looked half sexy in that video. You should save it to post later. Might actually get yourself a boyfriend or a girlfriend. Rather than sitting alone at home all night watching pokemon contests on TV like a loser.'

"Do I have to put you back in your pokeball?"

"Buzz, buzz."

"Then behave. Do you think you can connect to the network and figure out who that may be? Make contact even?"

'Perhaps.'

"Give it a go… what's the worst that can…" Before Helena could even finish speaking Rotom connected to the network and immediately buzzed loudly as they shook in the air. The screen turned pink and purple code suddenly ran rapidly across it. Only the code was not any language or symbols that Helena recognised. They looked almost hieroglyph-like. "Rotom!"

Helena reached out and caught Rotom as they fell. The phone back in her hand changed from orange coloured to purple with an ever present pink glow coming from the screen and Rotom's eyes till they slowly faded. "Rotom are you okay?" Helena gasped as she studied the phone in her hands. Rotom appeared… asleep… or otherwise ****.

She cradled the phone close, still using the flashlight to see. Rotom would be okay, they had to be, Helena thought to herself as she glanced back at the door in front of her. She considered turning around and leaving but the temptation to push it open and see where the light was coming from was just too great. Helena pressed forward and opened the door. Beyond it, she saw the source of the pink-purple light.

There, upon an old dusty shelf, on the far side of the room, was a strange stone with a crack and two dents upon it, from out of which spewed the pink and purple light. "Hello?" Helena called into the room. "Is anyone there? Any people or pokemon?" She looked at the stone. "Are you a pokemon? It's okay… I won't hurt you… I'm friendly."

Helena looked down at the phone, making sure it was still recording, only for it to buzz in her hands. A message was received. But she had lost reception hours ago. There was no way someone could send her a… she noticed the phone was still connected to that strange WiFi network. Helena opened the message.

'Come closer.'

"Rotom is that you in there?" She asked the phone, but it remained silent. "Is someone here?" The phone buzzed again.

'Closer.'

Helena was not sure why she obeyed but she found herself stepping forward. The phone buzzed with a new message as she crossed the room.

'Good Girl. Come to us.'

Helena, suddenly, found herself standing before the strange glowing stone. "What the… how did I… huh?" She exclaimed before the phone buzzed with a barrage of texts.

'Reach out and touch the stone.'

'Pick us up.'

'Take us.'

'Let us in.'

'Become one with us.'

'Belong to us.'

'Be ours.'

'Be a good girl.'

'Accept the hex.'

'Feel our mania!'

Helena tried to fight it, she tried to hold herself back, but nothing she did could stop her from reaching out to touch the stone and the moment she did, everything changed as an explosion of pink and purple light blinded her. She felt herself thrown back through the air as her vision faded and her body burned with sensation. The last thing she heard before passing out were moans. Moans not of suffering or dread but of pleasure and passion. Helena would never be the same again.
