Heather and Gavin share a moment

Heather stared at nothing on the ceiling as Gavin came in to their room. He blushed at her as he closed the door, but the sinking feeling in his stomach reminded him of why he came in. She had missed lunch with everyone else, her interaction with Kurt earlier was bizarre, and here she was now, unresponsive to his presence. None of this was Heather, and he wanted desperately to ask his big crush what had happened. Every time he opened his mouth though, no words left his brain, preoccupied in a wrestling match between his insecurities and his newly-found confidence. He shook his head, trying to find that zen-like state he entered when he asked Victoria about his seduction of her, as a few sentences began to form--

"Out with it Gavin, we don't have all day."

Heather's voice was a punch in the gut, and it **** his brain to respond. "So, what the fuck happened between Kurt and you?"

Perplexed at the sudden profanity, Heather sat up. Gavin's face was as red as a beet, looking just as confused as she, and she had to chuckle. Gavin eventually cracked a smile, and both ended up laughing loudly.

"Oh god," Heather said, calming down. "Oh, I needed that, thanks Gavin."

"That wasn't my initial intention," he replied.

"But it worked." She patted the space on the bed next to her, and Gavin sat down. Then unexpectedly, Heather leaned on his shoulder, and Gavin reddened again. "Do you mind?"

"No!" Gavin replied too quickly, and Heather grinned.

"Good, because I would if you said you did."

"And why?"

Heather looked at him. "Are you refusing my company?"

"I did not say that!" Gavin defended himself. "I, uh, just curious?"

She smiled briefly, saying "Let's just say I need the company of a good guy who isn't in a complicated situation to remind me that they exist." Gavin blinked at her, pulling an shaky arm around her waist. She snuggled in closer, burying her face in his shoulder and placed a hand on his chest. "That's nice Gavin... Vicky must've taught you well."

"Huh, what?!" Gavin blurted out, too shocked to move.

"I can read her like an open book," she said. "So what happened then?"

"Not 'til you tell me about Kurt!" Gavin remained steadfast. Heather pouted her lower lip, impressed.

"I like confident you, Gavin. That'll serve you well." She felt him pull her closer, and her brow furrowed. She gazed up into his eyes, witnessing a deep trench of concern for her. Cocking her head to the side, she whispered, "You... like me, don't you?"

Resigned, Gavin said, "How can you tell?"

Heather grinned. "Open book. You and Vicky are alike in that way."

Gavin looked away, but Heather pushed his face back into view. Instinctively, he brought his hand to hers, pouring his gaze into hers. Heather twitched at his intensity, almost backing away, but Gavin's hold on her prevented that. He sensed her retraction however and gave his arm some slack, his hand being caught in the proverbial cookie jar.

"I... don't mean--"

"Gavin," Heather said sternly. "Confident you. I need that right now."

"Why?"

"Gavin... you've got me in your arms, the person you have a crush on. What do you do now?"

"Heather..."

"Answer me."

Gavin pursed his lips, mulling over the answer. He found Heather's eyes, those wonderful blue eyes, and a literal response fell out of his head. He reaffirmed his grip on her and leaned in, landing softly on her lips. She grunted at the first taste, letting him take it as his steady pace and marked ferocity, like a slow-burning fire. A hand moved found Gavin's neck and slid into his hair, while the other traced a line down the middle of his chest. Gavin's own hands remained curled around Heather's waist, with one breaking away to caress her toned stomach.
