Chapter 5 by jessi010111 jessi010111

Which way do you go?

Head towards the dark doorway

As much as you'd like to be optimistic and hope the light eminating from one of the rooms is sunlight, and therefore an exit to the outside, you're not naiive enough to think that sunlight would reach any room this far down. If it's not sunlight, the light could mean people, or some other kind of creature, and you're not willing to take the bet that they would be friendly. You decide to head towards the doorway on the opposite side of the room.

You are surprised to see at the bottom of the staircase, there is a large statue facing in towards the room. It takes up a majority of the doorway, but you are able to break away much of the growth that has grown between the statue and the walls of the staircase. Judging from the rubble around the base, it appears this used to be sealed off. Considering the statue is facing away from the stairs, maybe this used to be an escape tunnel. Hopefully, there isn't something on the other side worth escaping from... You've got nothing to lose at this point. You finish clearing away the brush to make an opening large enough to fit, toss your torch onto a stone slab on the other side, and crawl through.

As you gaze across the large chamber, you decide it must just be for transport. The growth that was so prevalent in the stairway down seems to have not made it this far. You wonder if that is because the environment here just isn't conducive to the growth of the plants, or if this area is being actively maintained... You turn back towards the staircase you came down and realize the the exit you came through is nearly invisible hidden behind the statue and covered in vines. You also aren't surprised to see the front of the statue is, from your guess, a construct of the same figure from the wall carvings.

Seeing a three-dimensional rendering of the woman is something entirely different you're not sure if you were prepared for. You're hoping the statue is larger than scale, because the statue stands at least 15 feet tall. She looks very confidently poised, almost haughty. The figure is depicted wearing an ornate and revealing dress. Her large breasts are each bigger than your head. The look on her face is that of indifferent power and might. She definitely doesn't seem like someone you'd like to cross... With this thought, you turn and proceed across the room.

Although the room is comprised of fine stonework, there are no more complex carvings, just large, plain, stone slabs. You reach the unlit doorway on the other side, and point your torchlight in to try and make out what kind of room it is.

What kind of room do you see?
