Head out to the deck

Once again, when the meal was finished, the party moved outside. This time, the group stayed on the deck. A cooler was filled with ice and beer, and a small fire was started in the outdoor chimney. Heather turned on the outdoor speakers and plugged her phone into it to add some music to the festivities. Ashley sat on Brandon’s lap on one of the benches while Zack stretched out on the porch swing with Heather between his legs, her head on his chest. The rest of the group grabbed single chairs.

“So Zack, what time are you and Heather taking off tomorrow?” Victoria asked with a smile. She had originally been upset about Zack and Heather’s flirting, as she had known about Zack’s feelings for her. But as the trip progressed, the more his relationship with Heather made sense. The pair was going to Notre Dame together, while she was going to school out on the east coast. The time that she would have had with Zack would have been over almost before it began, while Heather would see him almost every day in college.

“Probably about ten thirty or so. It shouldn’t take us too long to pack up the canoe,” he replied, “as long as SOMEONE doesn’t over sleep!”

“Excuse me, but I’ve woken up before you every day so far!” Heather fired back.

“That’s what you think, Babe!” Zack winked.

“Zachary Bishop, have you been perving on me while I’ve been sleeping? If so, that is awesome! And if not, you better start!”

The group shared a laugh as Zack and Heather teased each other.

“Ooh Hey! Who wants to hear our Prom song?” Ashley belted out. With cheerleading being finished for the year, she had needed some school oriented activities to add to her transcript. While “Screwing football star Brandon Cole’s brains out” does count as being school spirited, it doesn’t exactly please college admission departments. So, the blonde girl joined the Prom Committee.

“Absolutely!” Victoria and Heather shouted in unison.

“Doesn’t matter to me. I’m not going anyway,” Gavin sulked.

“Yes, I want to hear it, and YES you ARE going to Prom, Gavin!” Chloe stated.

The blonde cheerleader jumped to her feet and swapped her phone for Heather’s. It took her a minute to find the song she was looking for, but when she did, she squealed in delight.

“Okay everyone. Here it is. I have to warn you though it’s kind of a mushy song, but it’s perfect for Prom,” she admitted.

Zack froze as the first few notes echoed across the lake.
