My gaze is still low, down onto the phone's screen, which changes due to the call ending. I'm expecting being reprimanded for lying that I did not get his first phone call. I'm expecting getting a strike across the cheek when I see his hand in my peripheral vision, but instead it slowly raises to my face, gently pinching my chin with his thumb and index finger and lifting my face up to meet his. I have surprise on my face. "Have a seat," my uncle Aaron says, guiding me to the bed.

I take a seat on the side of the bed and he takes a seat right next to me. I find it awkward sitting so close to him, considering what just played out, but I guess it's normal considering the initial exchange we have. We sit in silence for a moment before he speaks, clarifying for himself what he thinks of this predicament I find myself in.

"You've been truthful to me from the start, besides that small lie about the phone call, right?" my uncle asks. I nod in response, not looking at him but at the floor. "I know it's quite improbable, but was my fantasy actually truth?"

The addition of the honorific of his name following his status as my uncle is not me playing into the fantasy, but truthfully addressing him as such. I wonder if it would change anything in him, but since my face is still looking towards the carpet, I do not obseve any change.
