He sleeps in

Spencer woke up and looked at his clock. 12:07 o'clock.

"Shit." He muttered. After taking a shower and getting dressed, he went to check on Amy, who was also asleep. He knocked on her door, causing her to get up.

"Oh hey Dad."

"Uhh, looks like we slept in."

"Oh. What time is it?"

"It's 12."

"Uhh, shit."

Spencer considered scolding his daughter, but decided to let her profanity slip. "How about we just take the day off?"

"Sure." Her tone was much more enthusiastic, causing Spencer to smile.

"You wanna maybe go out?"

"Uhh, I guess."

Amy headed off to the shower as Spencer wondered what to do for the day. As he waited, he checked his phone, finding Jessica had sent a text.

'Amy wasn't at school today. Just wanted to know what was going on? Did she skip school?'

'no I just slept in my bad'

Before putting the phone down, Spencer decided to look up the nearby art gallery in the nearby Oxford. By the look of things, there were no events happening, but there might be some new artworks. When Amy entered the living room, Spencer said "Hey, how do you feel about going to Oxford for a day?"

"Yeah sure."

"Shall we get breakfast there?"

"If you're paying?"

"C'mon then."

The two head to the SUV. As Spencer got on the road, he said "So, how did my little sleuth find out about me and Miss Wolfe?"

"Well Mr. Collins was at McClaren's had taken a photo with you in the background."

"You're friends on him on Facebook?"

"No, but Kimberly liked the picture."

"Ah, so some due diligence from a citizen helped you catch the perp."

"I guess."

Spencer had hoped for a sign of laughter, no matter how lame his joke was, but received none. A glance into his rear-view mirror showed his daughter plug her headphones in and tune him out. He bit his tongue, realizing that if she didn't want to listen, she wouldn't. Although he was sure that things would smooth out, he had a rough road ahead of him for the time being.

Upon arriving in Oxford, Spencer pulled up at the nearest diner and entered. As Amy looked at the menu, she said "Hey Dad?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I have the waffles and ice cream?"

"Sure, why not?"

Normally Spencer would wince a little at his daughter eating such food for breakfast, but today he just wanted to make her happy. This was a sudden change for her, and so far things hadn't gone to plan. After eating, the two went off to the Oxford Art Gallery. With nothing new to look at, his own doubts started flooding his head as well. Did he really love Jessica, or was he just caught up in the euphoria of the moment?
