Chapter 29 by MoreCasualWritingAccount MoreCasualWritingAccount

What does he do?

He goes to meet his bosses

Sure enough, when Curtis checked the monitors he saw his two bosses making their way into the building. It really wasn't that much of a coincidence that they were arriving just as the sisters left: the cameras are set up to cover the parking lot too, and Mr. Czarneki has a hip problem that makes him slow as molasses. He'd probably been balls deep in Maxy with Luna still **** when they'd exited the car. Mrs. Czarneki was helping her husband up the steps one at a time when the slutty twins passed them. Curtis' eyebrows furrowed when the old man barely spared the two a glance. He had his work cut out for himself.

Curtis took his time pulling up his pants and fixing his appearance, using a question to clean up after himself and get rid of the smell. He took his time meeting his bosses at the front door. On his way, he fished the ring box out of his pocket. It took considerable effort getting the ring off his finger, but he had it safely in the box before he was within sight of the elderly couple. "Good morning," he said, holding the door wide open, then helping Mr. Czarneki come through first until his wife could help with the other arm. "What a beautiful day it is, today, and I'm expecting it to be a busy one."

The old man didn't respond, saving his breath for the walk. Mrs. Czarneki, or Julianna as she preferred, gave him her best smile. That meant not showing her teeth. "It is a fine day, my dear," she said. "I do hope it is, I was expecting a bigger turn out when we put those Brazilian giant sloth claws back on display, but they've been underperforming." She took her husband and the security guard with her to the back office.

Once there and the old man helped into a chair in the corner, Curtis put the ring box on the computer desk. "This arrived for you yesterday, Ma'am. It was after closing and I was on my way out, so I took it with me."

Mrs. Czarneki helped her husband into a seat where he sat, panting. She went to inspect the item, opened the box, then smiled in recognition. "Ah, the Silver Ring of Thalasee, good. I was hoping that would arrive soon. You know, it's supposedly from 3rd century Persia, and very valuable. We were lucky to find it." She began logging something on the computer.

"Where'd you get it?" he asked. Their adventuring days were long over, so they'd probably...

"Ebay."

That makes sense. Oh well, time to move on with his plans. "Mrs. Czarneki, are you old?" he asked.

She stopped typing and stared at him. "Yes, Dear. I don't know where you're going with that question, but watch your step," she warned. "Anyway, these rings were said to be imbued with the magic of an ancient ritual." She picks up the silver ring box, opening it, and typing a description in her computer.

Curtis watched her and waited for the change to take place. In the meantime he inwardly rolled his eyes. Yeah, sure, the rings are magic. Just like half the stuff in the Museum. Wait...

Curtis realized that she wasn't changing. And then it clicked. The ring! He lunged for it right when Julianna was about to put the ring on her own finger.

Does he get it?
