He did for a price

The detective takes Nicole through processing. He explains that neither she nor Huck will be charged, but she should consider it a warning. They had let Huck go an hour ago. After she finishes her paperwork, he hands her a slip and explains that her car's impounded and she can't get it out until tomorrow morning. "I'm just getting off, so I could drop you off on my way home," he offers. Nicole is exhausted from the day and wants to get home, so she accepts. He escorts her to his car and curiously, opens the back door for her.

"Um, is that by habit?" She asked.

The Detective laughs, "eh, can't really have you in the front of my car dressed like that."

Nicole blushed. "Oh, yeah," she says and climbs in the backseat.

As they drive Nicole finally has a chance to look at her phone. There's a stream of text messages, all marked read, from Alfie. He wanted to know when Nicole would show up to relieve him. After six Alfie messages, there are three from Ana Marie. She's annoyed that Nicole blew off Alfie's appointment and her streamers. Finally, there are two texts from Reverand Blue Jeans. The first says, "I adjusted your calendar and sorted Ana Marie. Don't worry." The second one says, "spoke to Detective Swanson. Have fun." What a weird thing to write, Nicole thought.

Nicole caught Detective Swanson's eyes on her in the rearview. He quickly looked away. She was feeling deeply ashamed riding in the backseat with this man of authority who knew so many of her dirty secrets. As she saw her apartment complex in the distance, she was thankful it was so late at night, so she could get inside and take a much needed nap.

"This it?" He asks.

"Yeah, you can drop me off at that footpath," she replied. Instead, he finds a parking spot, gets out, and opesn the back door for her.

"Lead the way. I think you might need an escort."

Nicole wants to protest as she's ready to be done with this whole situation; plus, she doesn't want someone seeing her with a cop while dressed like this. She doesn't say anything. Instead, she leads him to the door. "Okay, thanks for the ride," she said and stepped inside. As she's closing the door, he puts his foot in it. He throws it open and aggressively steps forward. Nicole stumbles. The door slams behind him. She's startled and suddenly scared. "What's going on?"

"Nicole Wegner, I'm Detective Swanson with the Free Use Compliance Unit. You're under investigation for violating the regulations of your free use status." While he's talking, he shoves her coffee table to the side of the room. He grabs a chair from the kitchen table and puts it in the center of the room. "I will need you to strip and take a seat."
