What becomes of Chuck?
He becomes a she, and James finally gets a clue
Standing before James in Chuck's old clothes and Chuck's old tennis shoes was a girl about Chuck's age who looked a lot like Chuck's older sister, but Emily was like six hours away going through med school, so it wasn't like she and Chuck could have planned some sort of switcheroo, and that didn't even make sense- why would they plan to do that? Plus, Emily broke her leg two weeks ago while she was on break from school in a water skiing accident. This girl had no cast, no crutches.
"What is this?" the girl in Chuck's spot said, running her hands over her body. She was shorter than Chuck, and not nearly as muscled. Curly black hair like Chuck. "Its me, but I'm a girl!" The voice didn't sound like Chuck. "What did you do?" The girl asked.
"I don't know! I wish someone would tell me what the hell is going on." His phone immediately started to ring.
"Hey is this James Cain? Yeah? Okay, just so you know, that spam computer add that blinded you earlier? Made you omnipotent. If you say something, it becomes true. Be careful, uh, I don't want you to like delete the universe or anything."
"Who is this?"
"Albert Q. Handinger of Grand Rapids, Michigan." That was about 300 miles away.
"Did you do this to me?"
"Nope, you asked for somebody to tell you what was going on, and I am somebody...Uh, what were we talking about again? Listen, I gotta go, there's a Pistons game about to start." Did that seriously just happen?
Chuck, girl Chuck, had wandered away into the bathroom in the hall. "Holy shit, I'm a girl, I'm a girl. James, WHAT is going on?"
James opened his mouth, closed it again and then after a moment of thought, finally replied, "Okay, don't freak out about this, but I apparently clicked on the right banner ad online, and now I'm omnipotent."
Girl-Chuck stuck her head out from the bathroom. She look nonchalant. "Huh, okay. That's cool. Good for you." Right, he had told her not to freak out.
"Is there something that I should call you besides Chuck? It doesn't quite fit anymore," James said.
"Hmm, I was named after my great-grandfather, Charles, and I think my mom said if I was born a girl, they were gonna name me after his wife, Edith," she said after a moment's thought, "But the same time, my dad said that he was pushing for Alicia."
"Yeah, we're going with Alicia. Your name is now Alicia," James said. Definitely better that than Edith or Charlene.
She pulled out a black leather man's wallet, "Huh, would you look at that? Driver's license, Student ID, Debit Card, even my sub shop punch card all say Alicia on them. Can you use your powers to fix my wardrobe? I'm dressed like a dude and it doesn't exactly fit."
"So you can remember being Chuck, right?" Stupid question to ask, James realized, since the moment he said it, she would be able to.
"Yep, its just weird. Its like I know my name is Alicia even though it wasn't like three minutes ago. And before you ask, I'm pretty sure I'm fully woman down there." She was taking it rather well in stride. Part of it had to be his command, but Alicia must really have wanted to be a girl. She had a hand down her now-super-baggy jeans, rooting around. Alicia was a girl, but apparently, not a lady. Same personality as the old Chuck.
"So, are you on the softball team now instead of the baseball team?"
"I don't think so," she said, pulling out her phone, "I still have baseball practice on my calendar, texts from my teammates. The text are the same... You said now, when you change my name, so I think -- wait, why are you asking me? You're the omnipotent one, not me. And focus, I don't want to be wearing this crap longer than I have to."
Right, her clothes. Alicia was cute, a girl next door type. But why bother with just cute? "You look like Gal Gadot, and you're wearing something slinky, low cut and perfect for your figure," he said. He wished the transformation slowed down, it was over in a blink in an eye, but standing in front of him was a replica of one of the most beautiful women in the world.
"Dude," she said, sounding more disappointed than angry. She looked back at the bathroom mirror, "On the other hand, I totally get it. I have to admit, there was part of me that was worried that if I transitioned, since I was macho-looking guy, I'd make for an ugly girl, and in my dreams, I did want to be a hot girl."
Right, she wasn't going to freak out. He could change everything about her... On the other hand, he did have his best friend in the body of Gal Gadot.
"So, do you still wanna go to the strip club?" she asked.
Does James change Alicia more?
Truth of the Matter
Words DO mean something
A man or woman gains the power to speak things into reality: What they say, goes. Will they be responsible with this power? Will they use it to make the world a better place? Or will they change the world around them for their own pleasure?
