Hard decision

Seeing as most of the people went home, you decide to not waste more time and go home and rest. As you get closer, your family comes to mind, so you decide to visit them. You park outside their home and ring the doorbell, and your mom answers it.

"Hey mom!"

"Max! What an unexpected surprise! " She gives you a hug and welcomes you in. "Allan, leave the goddamn TV and come say hi to your son!" she yells at your father.

"It's ok, mom," You say as your father makes his way and gives you a hug.

"Is everything alright, son?"

"Yeah, I just missed you guys!"

"Dinner is almost ready; why don't you boys prepare the table while I finish it."

"Ok, mom!"

You help your dad prepare the table and sit down and talk to the old man. It's been so long since you've had a meal with them at this table that old memories come back. Your mom brings dinner. "I remember Jenny agreeing to a dinner; why didn't you bring the girl with you?" she complains.

"She is busy at the moment, you know, with school and work, she barely has time for anything."

"Such a hard-working girl! You have your father's luck; since he met me, he... " You missed your parents. The friendly bantering, the loving small gestures, and the respect they have for each other is something you wished for as you grew older with Jenny by your side.

After the meal, you find yourself in the front door with your parents standing in the doorway, saying goodbye.

"And next time, bring the girl with you, Max."

"I will, mom; she was so happy when you invited her that she bounced all over the house for the next few days."

"Sounds like the perfect mother for my grandkids!"

"Haha! She sure does, mom! Have a good night!"

"Bye!"

"Drive safe!"

You drive to a store near your room to get something to drink. You get out in the parking lot, and immediately, the same vampire smell hits your nose.

"Oh, look! A lost doggy!" You see two men walking towards their car.

"Might not be, the moon is out"

"Maybe he has one under his bed!"

"Maybe in his bed, haha!"

"Even humans start to smell like them if you let them spread!"

"We'll fix that soon. "

"Haha! I can't wait to see his face when ..." They get into the car and drive away, stopping you from hearing the rest of the conversation. "It took all your strength not to go there and reduce the vampire population by two.
