Chapter 14 by Dr. West Dr. West

What to do after school?

Hang out with Will

With school over, Harper had some time to kill waiting on Crawford. Knowing well that Naomi would be at some form of afterschool sport practice, that left pretty much only one viable course of action. Sat on the steps to the school, Harper waited patiently for Will to exit before hopping up in front of him.

"Keep me company for a while?" She asked.

"Oh most definitely, have anything in mind?" He replied, more than eager to indulge. It was a nice feeling, seemingly like your prescence was enjoyed for something other than sex.

"Cant go too far... have to double back here later for something. Hmm. The arcade's close. Down for a few games of something?" She offered with a shrug. Options were very limited in this town. There was that, a theatre, a coffee shop, and The Willows (a trashy bar but it was THEIR trashy bar).

"Moooortal koooombat," he exclaimed in excitement. Perhaps a bit louder than he intended, earning himself a few unwanted gazes from the other students walking around. Giving him a little laugh to hopefully quell his anxiety, they set off....

ROUND 1... FIGHT!!!

As the pair fought their hearts out at the arcade, a question that had probably been on Will's mind for the entire day finally came out.

"Never seen you skip class for the counsellor before. All good, Harp?" He asked, though his line of questioning didnt distract him from the game at hand.

"Its complicated. I can't really talk about it," she replied, which was certainly the truth. Where would she even begin in describing the subject matter of that meeting? Of slayers and vampires, demons and great evils. Had she not been dragged through the sky by one of them last night, she wouldnt have believed it either. But now? Now she didn't know what to think. Hopefully she'd find out soon.

After about an hour and a half of her trouncing Will's ass as her beloved sub zero, Harper finally called it quits and said she needed to head back to the school for something.

On the way out, Will stopped her for a second and looked up at the sun as it began to set around them.

"I know its tough being you, Harper. Hang in there though, you're going to do great things in life. I just know it."

He left after that, most likely not wanting to stand on ceremony after being surprisingly sincere. She hated to admit it... but she didn't believe him.
