Haley and Vivian interlude Part IV

Haley Bailey wanted to tear her hair out. She wasn’t supposed to be dealing with any of this bullcrap yet, yet here she was balancing a budget and dealing with household finances.

Most of all, she missed her Mom.

After the accident, none of their so called family were willing to take her or Vivian in. They even refused to provide any financial support. Some family. They were now no contact.

It was just her and Vivian, who at least seemed to be coping well with the changes.

Haley is distracted by the front door opening. Looking, she sees it’s Vivian, who hadn’t come home right away from school.

“Hey Viv, where have you been?” Haley asked her younger sister.

“Oh, I was at Claire’s,” the blonde replied. Claire Davis was a black girl who shared classes with Vivian, and was the girls best friend. They often hung out a lot, so this interaction was completely normal.

“O.K just curios” Haley said, before turning to head back to the kitchen table, where her work was. Vivian, without saying a word followed, having forgotten to close the front door.

“What’s going to happen at the end of the school year?” Vivian demanded.

“What?” Haley asked.

“What’s going to happen at the end of the school year? I know originally we were to go off to college, but that’s can’t work anymore after everything….”

“Vivian stop,” Haley said. “Everything will still work out I have a plan.”

“Do you?” Vivian nearly shouted, tears beginning to well in her eyes.

“Yes, now take a deep breath, and everything will be better. Ok?”

“Ok”, she teen said.

Vivian closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, but then didn’t realizes it. In fact Vivian just stood there, and Haley stood there watching her. They along with the rest of time was frozen. Neither girl noticed as two familiar classmates walked into the kitchen.
