“Why did you let me drink that much,” moaned Aanya, burying her head beneath a pillow to defend herself from the villainous light streaming into her cabana.

“Because you had a fantastic time doing it,” said Val. “You damn near bedded a supermodel doctor.”

“Only almost?” Aanya confirmed, somewhat conflicted by that fact. “Things get a bit hazy after we left the club.

“I brought you home when you started stripping at the public pool,” explained Val.

“Thank you,” Aanya grumbled. Then she recalled an event earlier in the night and braved the light to scowl at Val. “I still hate you for letting me embarrass myself in front of Martin.”

“I’m not sure I could have stopped you,” Val teased. “You were on a warpath.”

“You’re buying the drinks tonight to apologize.”

“The drinks are free,” retorted Val.

“Not the good stuff,” replied Aanya with a grin, remembering some parts of the previous night clearly. “Who are you texting?”

“Tabitha. Megan’s sister. She’s good people. Just letting her know you’re okay.”

“I am not okay,” argued Aanya. And then buried herself deeper under blankets and pillows.
