Gulls and Fish

You get up and dress. You head to the small classroom where the Professor is set up.

Professor Guillian is not how you would picture an experienced sailor. He is short, balding, and a little husky, to put it politely.

His looks aren’t what brings him here though. He knows more about the ocean than any human being you’ve ever met.

“Class, we are headed to some atolls about thirty leagues south of Bermuda. An as yet undiscovered species of bow winged seagull was supposedly spotted in the area. We are looking to confirm its existence. In addition we are searching for the furry finned Angel fish, potentially undiscovered species and Tony will be making geological measurements. Assuming full speed, we will arrive in a bit over a day. Any questions?”

The group is silent.

“Excellent.”

The rest of the trip is uneventful and you draw close to a small atoll. It is a strange site. Here in the middle of the ocean, with no land for miles there is a shallows and a series of tiny islands. Most are barren. A couple are thirty or for forty feet long and have some scrawny palm trees.

Professor Guillian emerges. “Michael, Aaron, you’re diving. Erin you’ll be with me. Clara you stay onboard with Tony.”

You put your wet suit on and dive in with Michael. The scenery is incredible. It’s enough to make you forget that demons walk the earth. You spot reef sharks and a huge variety of fish. When your tanks run out you return to the ship, tired, hungry, with some amazing footage.

You eat and crash. You are exhausted.

You wake up to the morning sun and yelling.
