What's next?
Goodbye my lover
Aaron embraced the warm body of his lover beside him. It had been a long time since he made such passionate love with his wife. He let himself linger a little longer, taking a deep inhale of her intoxicating scent. How he missed breathing her in on an early Saturday morning. And kissing her soft cheek. As he pulled his lips away he realized her cheek wasn't so soft, and in fact was fairly scratchy as if she had a five o'clock shadow.
Wiping the sleep from his eyes Aaron looked at the sleeping man beneath him as the memories of last night began to creep their way in. He had had sex with another man…again. Last night was certainly different and more intense than any before. Even he had to admit it was-Aaron shook himself awake and hurried into the bathroom, assured he was still drunk from last night. He was never much of a drinker and wine had a way of sneaking up on you for some reason.
This was not the first time he had sat to pee since this began but this was the first time he didn't have to direct the stream by hand. After cleaning himself he stood and frowned realizing that his panties were tossed somewhere in the dark room. Examining the dark burgundy lingerie, what remained of it Aaron wondered why he had let Sarah talk him into dressing like this?
"It'll match your nails." She told him. But why should that have mattered? Before he could question further he felt a pair of strong arms wrap around him that caused him to jump.
"Sorry, I figured you saw me in the mirror."
"It's fine. I'm just…still waking up." Aaron's heart beat a mile a minute! He thought for sure he had been discovered, forgetting in the moment that his real sex was locked away behind a layer of synthetic flesh.
"I know what might help with that." He smiled as he kissed Aaron's neck.
'God why does this feel so-' "a shower!"
"What?" Luke laughed.
"I mean, a shower would help me wake up." Aaron slid open the frosted glass door and turned on the water.
"I like where your heads at, I'll join you."
'He's almost as bad as Ted!' Aaron couldn't believe he was still so ready to go after last night. It was all he could do to stand on his own. A new worry struck Aaron, his penis may be safe behind fake flesh but his chest were simple breastforms held together by a simpler glue that would definitely peel away in the shower. "Actually, I need to check on Sarah and I start breakfast. But you can go ahead and shower, I'm sure you don't take as long as I have to." He smiled attempting to seem as friendly as possible.
Luke smiled and kissed her forehead, "Sounds great." He could tell Erin was worried about her daughter possibly being upset about the two of them spending the night together. Even adult children can be upset when they realize their parents have someone new in their life after a loss. "I'll be done in a minute."
Aaron nodded and wrapped the fuzzy purple robe around himself after finding his underwear and tying a knot around his waist. Knocking on Sarah's door he waited for a reply. When none came he knocked again and waited another minute before slowly opening the door and finding the room empty. Aaron rushed back into his room frantically looking for his phone when he heard the sound of a car door shutting in the driveway.
Sarah quietly closed the door behind her, holding her shoes in one hand she slowly crept to her room. "And where have you been?!"
"Saint Louis!" Sarah cursed, spinning around to see her mother standing in her old bathrobe. "You scared me half to ****!" After taking a moment to catch her breath she explained, "I was at a friend's."
"Who?"
"Nikki from work."
"All night?"
"Not all night. I came home about midnight and saw Officer Luke's car still in the driveway and since I didn't want to walk in on you guys on the couch again. So I asked Nikki if I could stay the night."
"You could've at least let me know where you were. I was worried." Sarah sighs, and pulling out her phone, calls Aaron's phone which automatically goes to voicemail.
"I keep telling you to charge your phone." Sarah puts her phone away, "What's for breakfast?"
Aaron follows Sarah into the kitchen and the pair of them start cooking up individual breakfasts. "I'm sorry I got upset. I know you're an adult now but I still worry."
Sarah shrugs and cracks an egg, "It's fine. You don't have to apologize for being a mom. Especially since we both know you're going to do it again."
"Yeah, you're right." Aaron mixes up what's left of the pancake batter, just enough for four pancakes, "I don't wanna be. I never wanted to be the type of m-d-" he stops himself with a quick glance to the hallway confirming Luke was still in the shower, "-parent that didn't let their kids have a life. Mine did that to me and I missed out on a lot. Until…" he let the sentence fade away as they both knew Erin had been the prime driver in the majority of their adventures.
Turning around, Sarah hugs Aaron from behind their heights almost identical, "Mom, if you ever stopped worrying about me I'd worry about you."
Aaron patted his daughter's arm, "Well you don't have to worry about that ever happening." The pair smiled and bumped their heads together before returning to their food.
"So…how was it?"
"Sarah!" Aaron swore in a harsh whisper.
"What? I'm curious."
"More like nosy. And who says we did…it?"
"The half empty bottle of wine for one, the fact his car is still in the driveway, and the fact you're still in your robe."
"Ugh, having a smart daughter is such a pain in my ass."
"Yeah but you love me. So speaking of ass?"
"Sarah! Jesus. It was-" he looked to the hallway again before whispering, "It was fine. Now stop asking."
"Just fine? That's a shame." Sarah shook her head, "you know if you want I can give him some pointers."
"Sarah! Absolutely not!"
"What? Open communication with your boyfriend is very important for a long lasting relationship."
"I know how to communicate with my boyfriends just fine! I don't have boyfriends!" He quickly corrected, "You know what I mean!"
"I must be very lucky indeed to have breakfast with two angels." Luke smiled as he walked in wearing the same clothes Sarah last saw him in. Aaron blushed and tried to hide his face by reading the pancake batter box and let his hair fall around his face.
"Good morning to you too, officer Luke."
Luke kissed Aaron's head while he gently wrapped an arm around his stomach, "I keep telling you, you can call me Luke."
"I'll try to remember next time. How was dinner last night?"
"It was fantastic, your mom is an amazing cook." He kissed Aaron's cheek and quietly whispered, "Amazing at other things too." He hid his smile in Aaron's hair, unable to see his face burning a brighter shade of fire engine red.
"Here." Aaron shoved a plate of pancakes at Luke. "Eat."
Luke smiled as he pulled away with the plate, "Ooh blueberry pancakes." Before he could leave another small plate of scrambled eggs was given to him.
"Your usual officer Luke." Sarah smirked at him.
"Treatment like this I might just never leave."
"I…I think I'm going to shower real quick before breakfast." Aaron hurried into his room eager to cleanse himself of the night before and remove himself from the morning awkwardness.
Soon the pair were seated at the kitchen table while Sarah and Luke talked about various things.
"You didn't tell your mom what I told you right?"
"Nah, that's locked up in the vault."
Luke smiled, "Thank you. I don't want her to worry about me."
"Good idea, mom is kind of a worrywart about the people she cares about."
"Oh " somehow Luke's smile broadened knowing she cared for him.
"I heard there's a mini-golf course opening up soon. My mom loves mini-golf if you're trying to come up with other date ideas."
Luke shook his head and chuckled, "It really helps having a man on the inside. Or…a young woman in this case."
Sarah smirked and ate a forkful of eggs as they continued their conversation.
Not too long after, there came a knocking on the front door. "I'll get it." Luke stood, wiping his mouth and walking to the front door. Sarah jumped to her feet rushing past Luke, fueled by the fearful thought that Ted had decided to make a surprise visit.
Opening the door Sarah was shocked and relieved to see it was just their neighbor, Betty. "Good morning my dear." The old woman smiled holding up a small covered dish.
"Good morning," she said loudly, "you really didn't have to do this." She opened the lid and found a plate of cooked cheesey chicken spaghetti. Sarah smiled warmly, not wanting to let the old woman or Luke know just how grateful she was that she had brought them food as their cupboards were getting bare and her small paycheck plus tips were barely keeping them fed as it was.
"Think nothing of it my dear, I have a habit of making more than I can eat all by my lonesome." Betty looked up as Luke opened the door wider and greeted her, confirming her suspicions and true reason for bringing her leftovers so she could discover who it was that spent the night last night. "Oh, that does remind me, Sarah was it?" She nodded, "Is your mother in?"
"She is, but she's in the shower right now."
"Okay, then can you relay her a message for me? My grandson is starring in a play at the local theater and I was hoping you three wouldn't mind accompanying me. It gets out awfully late and unfortunately the doctors tell me I have the night blindness. Your mother's companion is of course invited as well."
"It would be an honor ma'am." Luke spoke loudly, "When is the play?"
"Tonight actually. It starts at 6:30 so it would be best to leave at six."
"Sounds wonderful."
"Lovely. Then I will see you all later tonight. Give my best to your mother."
"Yes ma'am, I will." Sarah sighed as the little old lady walked away and she closed the door. How was she supposed to have a social life if she has to spend yet another a Saturday night with these old people? She would probably get stuck babysitting some dopey tween for added misery. She wasn't sure about what tonight held but she was sure her mother would not be happy that Luke agreed without even consulting her.
