Drama at the theater
Aaron stepped out of his long shower, finally cleaned. He knew this wasn't his first morning after sleeping with a man but the memories of last night were so much more intense than previous nights. He had a feeling why the night before was so much…better. Not that he wanted to admit that to himself let alone out loud. Standing naked in the bathroom mirror Aaron took note of the strange folds between his legs. It was so tempting to slip his fingers Touching the gaff he could almost feel it in the places it covered. So tempting.
Pulling himself away from himself he got dressed for the day, thankfully it was the weekend so he was able to just wear something relaxing. He found a pair of blue boyshorts which hugged his butt perfectly followed by a matching t-shirt bra, if he had to wear one at least he could be comfortable. He followed that up with a pair of black skinny jeans and a striped shirt which he found was another victim of the washer’s menace. If he stretched or raised his arms in the wrong way he would most certainly expose his midriff. “Mom?”
“What is it, Sarah?” He asked as he placed a double-sided tape on the inside of his breast forms.
“So a thing happened and I wanted to talk to you about it before you hear it from Officer Luke.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah.”
“Is he okay?”
“Yeah. Our neighbor Mrs.Betty came over and she invited us to see her grandson in a play.”
“Oh that was nice of her. Wait…who us?”
“You, me,...Officer Luke.”
“What did you tell her?”
“I didn’t really get the chance. He agreed before I could say anything.”
“Great, so I have a date with a man and my daughter?” Aaron sighed placed the left breast over his left nipple, “When?”
“Tonight.”
“Tonight?! I just saw the man last night.”
“And this morning.”
“My point is why does he want to spend the ni-have a date with me two nights in a row?”
“Well, mom, I think he’s smitten with you.”
Aaron sighed, “I’ll just have to tell him we already have plans.”
“Like what?”
“A mother daughter movie night or something. That should be believable enough.”
“I don’t know.”
“Trust me. I don’t know a lot about women but I do know they change their minds a lot.”
“Mom.”
“What?” He stopped at the door.
“You forget something?” Sarah pointed to his uneven chest. He swore and returned to fixing his chest.
Aaron walked into the kitchen and found Luke finishing hand washing the morning dishes. “Luke?”
He turned around with a heart melting smile, “Erin. Your daughter said she wanted to talk to you and I got bored waiting.”
“You clean when you’re bored?” He shrugged with that same smile. “Sarah told me we have plans this evening?”
“Yeah, your neighbor came over with some cookies and she invited all of us to a local play. I’m pretty excited, I don’t usually get many opportunities to go to the theater.” He laughed to cover his nervousness. He knew he shouldn’t have just accepted without asking but he was excited to see her again, he hadn't felt this way since he was in fourth grade and Lily Hammond gave him his first kiss.
"You see, Sarah and I usually have a mother daughter day and uh…" Aaron could see the smile faltering on his face. Luke was so excited and happy just to spend more time with Erin and he was about to crush that. "Uh…if you don't mind coming back to pick us up later we would love to join you at the theater."
Luke's smile regained its original cheer, he understood a mom needed to spend time with her daughter, especially when she's going off to college later, "Oh, of course. I completely understand. That'll give me time to run some errands and put on something nice for you."
Aaron blushed, not used to someone genuinely trying to impress him. "Us too." He smiled faintly.
"What me-" Aaron smacked Sarah's hand just enough to let her know to be quiet.
"Shall we say 6:00? We can go for dinner and drinks after the play."
"Oh you don't have to-" It was Sarah's turn to slap Aaron's hand, letting him know to go with it, "...That would be lovely."
Luke took a step closer to Erin and kissed her forehead in a way that sent shivers down her spine. "I'm looking forward to it." Aaron swallowed as she looked up at the well built man's face. Before he knew it Luke had kissed his lips so softly he actually found himself wanting more.
"Me too." Erin sighed.
The rest of the day the mother daughter duo spent the day discussing clothes, mostly Sarah balking, "Why do I have to dress up? He's your boyfriend."
"No he's not, and if I have to dress up, so do you. Besides, Betty might want you to meet her grandson."
"Ugh, great so I've gotta babysit some theater geek?"
"Hey, I will have you know your dear old dad was in theater in highschool."
"And yet you married him anyway."
"Yes I-wait. I was talking about me.”
“Are you sure, mom?” She emphasized the last word as a reminder of who he was supposed to be. Aaron rolled his eyes and took out a pair of jeans, “And jeans don’t count as dressing up.”
“Fine.”
After a few minutes of silently selecting clothes Sarh spoke up, “So the sex must’ve been really good.”
“Sarah!”
“What? Why else would you agree to the date?”
“I was going to, but did you see his face?! It was like taking a kid's favorite toy then kicking its puppy into him!”
“Geeze, sounds rough.”
“Exactly, I couldn’t do it.”
“So…how was-”
“Sarah, no!”
Sarah helped Aaron find the perfect outfit for her theater date, vetoing any attempt at pants or something too simple. After lunch Aaron had asked what Sarah was wearing, her reply was simply, “Just this.” and a gesture to her capri pants and a t-shirt she got from a school festival on her last day of highschool.
“Oh no. If I’m dressing up, so are you.”
“I’m not the one going on a date though.”
“Won’t he think it’s odd that my daughter isn’t putting any effort into our little outing?”
“Maybe but aga-”
“So we don’t want him to be suspicious do we?”
“That’s not…” Sarah sighed, her mom’s logic was definitely flawed but he had done so much she had suggested it didn’t feel right not to let him have this win. “I guess I can find something nice.”
“Oh good, I’ll help.”
“Mom, I can put an outfit together.”
“But it’s a mother’s prerogative to help her daughter.” Sarah knew exactly what he was doing but knew if she balked too much he would be less likely to listen to her suggestions and use her own resistance against her at some later date.
“You’re right, mom. It has been awhile, I would love your help.”
Aaron hadn’t actually expected her to agree, she was always so independent. With rare exceptions Erin didn’t even get much say in how Sarah would dress since she was a little girl. The only conclusion Aaron could come up with was Sarah just really missed her mother. At least this was something she could get to relive again.
Finally, Luke had returned, having been anxiously awaiting to see his beautiful dates for the evening. Erin opened the door a few minutes after he rang the bell. “Hello stranger.” She smirked as he took her all in. She wore a royal blue ruched off the shoulder bodycon midi dress, her hair was put into a braided low bun to show off the slender slopes of her beautiful neck topped with a small pearl necklace.
“Wow.”
Erin smiled, “You like it?” She turned, kicking up one black heel with a gold accented net pattern to match the clutch purse she held in her hand, showing the silver flower pin with smaller pearls accenting it as the flower’s center that was holding her hair into place.
“I love it.” He smiled.
“You always clean up so nicely.” Luke wore a dress suit, a white button up shirt with a black tie to match his best, jacket, and pants. Aaron really did think he looked good in his suit and wasn't sure if he was envious that he looked like a suave man or if he just admired him for that ability. "Come in, come in." She reached out her slender hand and he noticed that her nails had been painted white to match her pearls. "Would you like a drink before we leave?"
"That sounds perfect, thank you." Erin led Luke into the kitchen and poured a small glass of wine for each of them. After clinking glasses Erin laughed nervously, "So how was your day? It feels like it's been ages since I last saw you."
Luke smiled, it was nice to meet a woman who was interested in his day. Sadly not much happened worth telling other than going to a tailor and having him help him select his suit, which he was not about to tell her. She very clearly liked the idea he had that touch of class naturally from the way she kept eyeing him up and down. "Nothing super interesting, I checked on Carl."
"How is he?" She asked with genuine concern.
"He's nursing a massive hangover but otherwise he's okay…ish. About as well as you'd expect given his circumstance." Aaron nodded sympathetically. His brother Jack was a pain growing up but when he lost Erin he was the one who reminded him he had to think of his daughter. He could mourn later but his first priority had to be taking care of her during this difficult time. If he had lost him on top of that? He didn't think he would be handling it as well as Carl was.
"It sounds like he has a good friend to help him through this at least." Luke nodded solemnly. Carl was his partner, when you spend years watching each other's backs it becomes a habit you can't break no matter the situation. Seeing the look in Luke's face Aaron sat his glass down and gently pulled the larger man into a hug.
After a few minutes he pulled away from Luke and found himself staring into his eyes. Staring into his deep soulful eyes Aaron suddenly felt-Aaron cleared his throat, “I should see what’s keeping, Sarah.” As he walked away he mentally chastised himself, ‘What was that?!’ Hugging him was one thing, he was comforting a nice person, he could understand that. ‘But not that! Never that! It’s an act.’ He stopped outside of his daughter’s room, and looked back down the hallway and even though he told himself never to think that again he couldn’t help but see the image his brain or libido at least was urging him towards. In that moment he had felt the strange urge to tenderly kiss Luke and so much more if he’d allow it to happen. ‘I’m not gay.’ He reminded his libido. ‘I don’t think of him that way.’ As if a counterpoint he recalled just last night, less than twenty-four hours ago when he had enthusiastically slept with him. ‘I was drunk. No more **** tonight and I’ll be fine.’
Knocking on the door Aaron waited for her to tell him to come in or opened the door herself, as he learned he must since she became a teenager. Opening the door Sarah stood in a mauve lace A-line dress, her long wavy hair covering one of the spaghetti straps, “Hey, sweetie. I was just seeing if you were ready yet.”
“I guess technically.”
“Is everything okay?”
“I’m not exactly excited to spend the night watching you two make goo goo eyes at each other.”
“There will be no goo goo eyes tonight. I promise.” He wouldn’t tell her about what happened in the kitchen. “Is there something else?”
“Yeah…I started my period.”
Aaron’s eyes widened, “Uh, do you have…we’ve got, I mean-”
“Yes, mom. I have pads. I took some midol and I put it in my purse. It just sucks.”
Aaron never really had to deal with this, he of course had experienced his daughter’s periods before but usually that job fell to his wife as she had experience in that area. He knew she took her for ice cream but didn’t know what else she did. “What do you need me to do? If you want to stay home I’m sure Luke will understand, you’re not feeling well.”
“You’d go without me?”
“Of course, I said I would.”
“So did I.”
“But you’re…under the weather.”
Sarah sighed, staying home and rolling herself into a blanket burrito while she watched hallmark movies sounded great, but she had given her word as well. That was something she knew came from her father as he always told her that if you have nothing else you have your word. “No, I’ll be fine.”
“Are you sure?”
“Mom. It’s okay. I’m used to it, remember?” Aaron hugged Sarah, she was such a good girl and he counted himself lucky to know her and that he didn’t have to suffer that monthly visitor.
Coming downstairs Luke was once again stunned by the beautiful women before him. Sarah was definitely a beautiful young woman and knew any young man would be lucky to have her attention. “Sarah you get more beautiful every time I see you.”
Sarah **** a smile through the pain, “Thank you,Mr.Bond, I mean Officer Luke.”
Luke rolled his eyes, she had to be doing this on purpose. “Shall we away to the theater,” he over exaggerated a bow before offering his arms to the two ladies.
“Yes, let us away.” Erin smirked teasingly, “Do have the carriage brought around.” Erin smiled as she took his arm. Luke didn’t mind looking like a clown if it meant he got to see her smile again.
Sarah rolled her eyes and took Luke’s other arm, “This is gonna be a long night.”
Arriving early to the local theater house the trio waited outside for the play to begin where they found their neighbor Betty. Erin’s stomach growled, “Ugh. Maybe we should’ve eaten first.” She said softly.
“Actually,” Luke looked to the left, then right, checking to see the coast was clear, “I brought snacks.” He took a ziploc baggie of cookies Betty had given them earlier in the day.
“You’re a lifesaver!” She whispered again, reaching for a cookie.
“Eh,eh!” Luke pulled the bag away, “What’ll you give me for one?”
Erin knew this game, she played it with her wife any chance she got. “A nickel?”
“Hmm, not enough.”
“My right pinky toe?”
“Tempting. How about a kiss instead.”
Erin thought for a moment as her stomach growled once more, “Deal.” She leaned forward and kissed him softly on the lips forgetting for a moment they were in public and worse in front of her daughter and neighbor.
Erin cleared her throat as their kiss broke apart, “S-sorry about that.” She laughed nervously.
“Oh thank nothing of it dear. If I were forty years younger I’d do the same.” The older woman winked at Luke as he passed a cookie to Erin.
“Don’t tempt me.”
“Hey!” Erin slapped Luke’s arm playfully.
Their half of the conversation was unfortunately loud so the older woman could hear them especially over the gathered crowd. It was this reason, more than any other, that Ted heard his lover’s laugh. “Erin?”
Aaron’s blood ran cold, why was he here?! Turning around he saw Ted approaching, still wearing his work overalls, stained with grease and food remnants from who knows how long ago. “T-ted. I did not expect to see you here.”
“Me either.” Ted leered at Erin as he took in her sexy form, the black wrap covering her shoulders from the cold, the sheer white stockings on her otherwise exposed legs.
“What are you doing here? I mean…are you here for the play?”
“Play? Oh, nah. I don’t go in for all that fruity shit. I was across the street fixing some plumbing issues.”
“Charming.” Luke didn’t think he was a high classed man but compared to Ted he felt like the Duke of Windsor.
“And you are?” Ted glared at the well dressed man.
“Luke-”
“My boyfriend.” Aaron wrapped his arm around Luke, “I mean…my boyfriend Luke.” Everyone looked surprised at Erin’s sudden declaration, especially Aaron.
“Oh?” Ted smirked immediately, sizing the man up. Judging from his suit and pink pocket square he was definitely not man enough for Erin. She’d come crawling back eventually. “Lucky guy.” he looked back to Erin, stopping for a moment to ogle Sarah, ‘Maybe in the meantime…’ “Well, I suppose I should get out of here and let you enjoy your…date. Ted held out his hand and Erin felt no other choice but to give him her hand or cause a scene she didn’t want. Taking her hand he kissed it softly, “Give me a call sometime.” When Ted kissed her hand she felt a small thrill shoot up her arm.
“See ya around, Lucky.” Ted said with a smirk as he walked back to his truck.
The bells rang for them to take their seats. “Who was that guy exactly?”
“Uh…we went on one date a while back.”
“Oh.”
“I’m sorry I should have told you.”
“Why? Erin you have a daughter, so clearly I’m aware you’ve had other relationships before me. I have too.”
“I remember the bad girl.”
He smirked, “Yeah. But the point is we’re here with each other now.”
“Right. Me and Ted are through.” ‘I hope.’
“So…boyfriend huh?”
Erin sighed and scrambled for an excuse that wouldn’t hurt his feelings, “I didn’t want, well he showed up and I…I know we haven’t gone out on many dates and I know guys don’t like-”
“Shh,” he shushed her before kissing her softly on the lips, igniting a million fireworks inside of her, “When you know how you feel, why wait? Right?” She nodded, fighting the urge to give into her sudden lust, “Then, Erin, would you like to be my girlfriend?” Again she nodded, licking her lips. Luke smiled and kissed her once more, this time pulling her close to his body. The confusing night was only beginning for Aaron and the curtain was only starting to rise.
