Chapter 10 by TheLeherengin TheLeherengin

What's next?

Good thing we're apparently alive to write this response

"Even though as noted my survival did severely undermine a lot of the pathos involved in the whole lead up to my ****," Alide admits.

"Having to kill you was really supposed to be one of the major dramatic moments of the run..." Dahlia agrees.

"Lehe was indeed rather disappointed at me being revived, though they at least are happy that it does mean for all intents and purposes mechanically I am dead and the sequel will likely not include either of us," Alide clarifies.

"Malia, Izzy and whoever replaces Alide and I will be included though,' Dahlia states.

"and who knows maybe the new Chosen will be entirely different from Yulia leading to a much different story, especially since Lehe is definitely going to nerf a lot of aspects of the story the players took advantage of previously. No more infinite items or infinite mana. In case they get it again, how God's Light works for example will be reworked to only heal health not Mana or only activate after a battle not constantly. Lehe hasn't fully decided yet. Also it never became a problem, but the mana infused water was meant to be a deterrent to the infinite water glitch, since if someone who had the Mana infused status from drinking the water tried to use magic it would backfire and make them explode. This wouldn't be an autokill, but would be a detriment, making the water more risky to use." Alide explains.

"I can't even imagine how angry Lehe would have been if they had found a way to revive Muma," Dahlia mutters, "just strip every last bit of emotion from the story why don't you?" Dahlia adds in a mocking tone.

"The sand sharks thing was meant as a joke, we apologize for the lack of sharks on Lehe's behalf," Alide adds

"Also Lehe also kept forgetting Beck was a scorpion... She doesn't know if she confused Gambio or Gambio confused her, but she imagines one of them screwed it up and confused the other one at some point. Pretty sure Beck had a stinger in at least one scene cause Lehe forgot..." Dahlia adds.

"It is indeed a very annoying aspect of this type of story that entire planned events can, or by nature have to, be entirely missed. An entire quarter of the second to last floor and at least something like two thirds of the final floor were left completely unseen due to the players choices and while the final floor not being entirely seen is somewhat intended since the players are supposed to kind of choose one of the three paths with the middle path being intentionally the most difficult and costly, at least overall, obviously any of the other sections belonging to the functionaries could be more dangerous to a specific party. Dreg for example could have been run ending as could Morgana," Alide clarifies.

"I don't know if it was ever mentioned, but Goma was never supposed to be usable in combat. There was supposed to be a strict divide between combat capable and support allies. Goma was supposed to initially spend all her time in an alchemical shop in each floor's hub area, but Lehe stupidly perhaps let that delineation slide and only Martin actually got relegated to full on non-combatant," Dahlia adds.

"Some of you might be wondering... Since the door was opened, will there still be wandering monsters in the sequel?" Alide asks, "the answer is yes. There is also a new door with a new reward behind it for people who kill them in the sequel. The reward being even better than the previous. Though oh god the implication is the potential for another sequel afterwards..." Alide says with a shrug.

"Lehe did say she'd potentially keep writing Tower of Voices until she died or everyone stopped reading," Dahlia reminds Alide.

"So, yeah hopefully the sequel will fix the problems this first run had and not introduce too many new ones!" Alide says.

"and hopefully it will actually include sharks, but no promises, I don't want to accidentally cocktease Gina again... At least not like that," Dahlia says.

"So... Lehe paused the response here because she got tired, but this is already a pretty good ending. Not really much else to add. Although if there was an actual reward we could give the readers we would have, the next reward behind the locked door will at least be a much more direct help, but being at the very end of the run there's not much point in giving it to the current chosen anyway. It's the issue of giving the player an extremely powerful weapon on the very last level of a game you can't go back through. It's fun sure, but not really much of a reward. Lehe wanted this to play more like a Roguelike so these rewards could be a much more powerful or interesting next run. Admittedly with the length of these 'runs' that might not be the most effective either," Alide explains.

"So, anyway yeah... Guess this is it. It was fun to do... Will we stick around for reviews and responses or be replaced? Who knows..."

"Thank you for everyone who took part and Marcie and Gina for reviewing and hopefully the next will be better,"

Fade Away
