Go with Nemo

"I suppose it is safer for you to go with Nemo for this."

With Lupin's suggestion, Nemo and I proceed to the checkpoint together. She and I are supposedly going to try to pass as a married couple to make it through. Nemo and I, the two of us. My green skin will be explained as me being ill.

"Hey, don't look so concerned, Caleb! As your wife, it is my duty to support you through thick and thin! In sickness and in health. Now, you may kiss the bride!" Nemo says.

I interpret this as an instruction and lean in to kiss her. It is a deep kiss.

"Ugh... All right, that's enough. Just hurry up and get caught, so you can reflect on your actions for a while." Lupin says.

I pull away from Nemo.

"I just meant that as joke. I didn't think you're actually do it. That was a lot of tongue." Nemo says.

"Be careful, monsieur. This is not a trifling matter. And your partner is Nemo."

"I understand." I say.

"What?! Stop making it sound like I'm some kinda burden to him." Nemo says.

We approach a huge gate. Beyond it, I see many buildings.

The gate is crowded with many people, and a line is waiting to get through the checkpoint.

We join the long line.

"I'm a little nervous." I say.

"Don't you worry. My invention will handle this for us." Nemo says. "Huh?! Where'd it go?! I thought I put it in my pocket." I'm extremely uneasy. "Oh, it's right here. Listen, Mr. Caleb, this is..."

"Next!" the guard says.

"Oh! It's out turn. Finally! C'mon, just trust me and follow my lead." Nemo says.

"Nemo, wait!" I say.

Nemo and I walk over to the guard.

"Are you a citizen of London?" he asks.

"Oh, no, sahr. Me 'n my husband, we're herr to see the soights. Ain't it so, Ellis?" Nemo turns to me and wiggles her eyebrows. "Ain't it. Ellis!"

"Who's Ellis?" I ask.

"You've got to go along with me! It's all an act!"

"You have to tell me things like this beforehand!"

"It's called ad-libbing! It's an important life skill, Caleb!"

"Caleb? I thought your said your husband's name was Ellis?" the guard says. "I'm afraid I'm going to have to have the two of you detained for suspicious activity."

The other guards begin to gather around us.

I feel someone staring at me, and turn.

Lupin is watching us with a look of disbelief and frustration.

"HOWEVER! I have prepared a secret weapon, just in the event of, uh, events like this!" Nemo says.

"A weapon?" the guards stand back warily as Nemo holds up a tiny tube over her head.

"Yes! Once the light of this hypnosis device shines upon you, you won't be able to resist any command I give you!"

"What?!" a guard asks.

"If you had something like that all along, why didn't you use it sooner?" I ask.

"Take this!"

A guard coughs. "What kind of joke is this?"

"Huh? Hold on. It's supposed to light up really bright! Maybe the flash bulb wasn't adjusted." Nemo fiddles with the tube.

"Nemo. I think we might be in trouble." I say. The guards circle around us, blocking our way and ready to attack. "They're going to get us."

"You're coming with us to the station." a guard says.

"Come quietly, or things will get rough." another guard says.

"Hold on there. I think you've invited everybody to this little party here." Nemo says. "But ha! You don't know who you're up against! This engineer has one more ace up her sleeve! Don't underestimate my genius!"

I don't trust Nemo with another one of her "plans". I suddenly grab her and lift her off the ground. "Just Ruuuuuuuun!"

"After them!" a guard says.

I begin running at a furious speed, with the guards on my heels.

"You're not getting out of here!" another guard says.

I don't stop running, not even with guns pointed at us. I fly past everyone. "Here we go!" I leaps up, flying over the guards' heads.

"That's amazing. They'll never catch us, Mr. Caleb! Run, Mr. Caleb, run like the wind!"
