Go towards the smoke

Facing the bleak prospects of your situation, you squint and look upward in the glare of the blaring sunlight. Off in the distance, you still can see a billowing cloud of thick acrid smoke, rising toward the pastel blue of the desert sky. It does not look that far away. You remember thinking earlier, that if this was not a dream, maybe you could go to the camp and see if there was anyone there who could give you some answers.
Of course, thinking then again to all the movies you'd seen where someone ends up in the situation that you are in, you remember also the very real possibility that the people making that camp might be headhunters or some other ungodly fright you wouldn't wish to encounter.
Hmm. You click your tongue pondering what to do. Whether you should risk it or quite possibly head in a different direction, looking for resources on your own.
