Go to make sure Kime is ok.

Emid decided to check on Kime after his shift. Besides, he was permitted to leave early today and he doubts Miss Monto would let her class out early. In all his years in the castle institute of learning, he doesn't remember a single day they left early short of an alarm trumpet signaling a natural disaster or potential attack. Kime seemed so nervous earlier and her injury may have swollen by now. Emid's combat training had taught him that strain on joints could result in an unexpected amount of swelling and pain. Emid had heard of Miss Perinoup, but had never seen her around the castle. Her quarters were tucked away near the royal childrens' quarters but tucked away from the official entrances. The contrast of the double doors that indicate royalty and the narrow, unassuming hallway that went to her quarters and tutoring study made it difficult to locate.

Emid changed back into his normal clothes. Wearing his guard tunic to official business was prohibited. The garb he wore around the castle was of much higher quality than that worn by the peasantry outside the castle, but slightly lower quality than what the lower noble houses wore. He followed his steps from escorting Kime earlier to make sure he could find the place. He arrived, or he thought he did but couldn't find the narrow hallway. He was confused. He went over to the double doors that indicated it was the wing for younger royals. The three princesses occupied this wing, and there were some empty rooms for their cousins to use when they were in the city. He inspected the markings on the arch and confirmed he hadn't gotten lost, but was in the same place he was earlier in the day. The hallway was quiet. He suspected the youngest princess was learning magic with some mage or at the church. Fani would certainly be terrorizing some other junior guard or drinking with Hana and their other friends. Sari should be here. She may have been in a meeting to schedule an event with her latest noble prospect, but Emid could have sworn there no security detail scheduled for such an event.

He went back to where he thought the hall should be located. He was looking forward to seeing Miss Monto, but Kime was kind of cute. Kime may have been lacking some of the northern curves of Miss Monto, but she was very cute. She reminded him of Kimi. Even her name was similar. Like Kimi, Kime was not pale like most of the the folks of Banpa. She was an elf with slightly golden skin an attractive backside, slightly curly, dark hair, and elven ears with moderate protrusion. Her ears slightly protruded through her curls in the cutest way. Oh well, looks like he wasn't going to see her again today. He decided he would need to go back and change into common clothes to go to the pub in town and move on with his day. He would probably see Kime sometime soon since he needed to shadow several patrol routes over the next few months.

It had been a big day. The first day on guard duty was filled with nervous excitement and it was a good day at work. He was able to help people and learn the route. His mentor was one of the most clever, laid back guards he knew. It seemed he had been placed with a mentor who was a great match. Emid needed a moment to reflect before he started his evening out. He took a deep breath and leaned against the wall to rest a moment before heading back to his family's quarters. But the wall gave way!
