Chapter 355

The Other Guy
Meeting Hanna, or chickening out of talking to your ?
Go talk to Hanna
After you have a quick bath with Asune that is. Compared to every other co-habituating bath you've had her not try to start any sexy times but just getting clean is a very strange change. You even waited for a moment while naked out of habit, she looked at you and asked if you needed something.
When you were clean she led you to Hanna's room. From what Asune told you on the way a staff member gave her three meals a day but there was no communication. You only picked up on that being because Asune had instructed the staff to not interact with her since Hanna is yours and you hadn't given any permission for anyone but you to talk to her. Hanna herself had tried to talk repeatedly. When she needed to go the to toilet or bathe she was escorted out of then back to her room in total silence.
Kinda wishing you'd visited earlier because if you were Hanna that would Fucking Suck. Asune unlocked the door to Hanna's room and opened it for you.
Hanna was sitting on her bed, her head resting on the wall staring out a window. The side of her head facing you was still burned clean of all hair. The room was bare of everything except for a single bed, and a small cabinet with an unlit candle on it. Hanna herself was wearing a brown shirt that extended to her mid thigh and the same metal manacles around her wrists. "Are you going to talk to me today?" She sounded exhausted and you felt a sharp pang of guilt.
"You should learn to recognise your master's presence." Asune said, a familiar desire stirring in her aura as she looked at Hanna.
After a second Hanna started laughing. "Oh, here to save me again?" The laughter died quickly and she didn't look away from the window. "What do you want 'Master'?" She didn't even seem to have the energy to be bitter with the word.
"I will have Pet -" Asune started before you put a hand on her shoulder.
"Can you leave us alone please?" You knew what Asune wanted to happened here, and you knew it wasn't. No point having her stay and get frustrated.
Asune considered your offer for a moment. "I would like to watch when something happens." Asune said leaving the room then adding. "I will be reviewing my mothers paperwork if you need to find me." She walked away and you closed the door.
When you turned back to face Hanna she hadn't moved, still staring out the window. "Is this the part where you **** me, or do you want to taunt me first?" She didn't even seem upset about that comment.
"What, thats not, I'd never." You were honestly so stunned by her question it removed whatever you might have been thinking of saying to her. "I'm never going to touch you like that."
"Oh," Hanna looked over at you, her blue eyes still dimmed and the scars that had been on her face were still present, unhealed by magic, the manacles must be cutting of more than just her externalising her magic but using it at all, "so just beating me?" She shifted and turned her back to you pulling up her dress. All over her back were dozens of scars all of them very old. You were completely thrown, you didn't even know people could scar with magic to heal them. How had she been scared like that? "I'll scream or be quiet, whatever you want."
"NO!" You shout. "I'd never." You pause and take a breath. "I'm so sorry about your time here so far I really didn't think Asune would interpret my request to house you here like this. I'll tell her to let the staff talk with you, and to bring you anything you need."
"So you'll let these come off?" She held up her hands and shook the manacles. You hesitated and she laugh then lowered her hands and put her back on the wall to look out the window. "Same as the first time I was 'housed' by a noble. Give me whatever I ask for except to be let out. Then when I feel like I owe you everything you'll show me how I can repay you. Nobles are all the same. Beat me, **** me, just leave me alone afterwards." She still didn't cry.
You had not the slightest idea what do here. "You said your mother told you a story about a woman called Zara."
"Stupid to think someone would save me. No one saves people like me. You save yourself or you take what nobles give you, food, pain or sex if you want or not."
How do you even go about convincing someone you aren't what they think you are while also proving you are by keeping them confined. "Zara was my mother, if she said I'd save you one day I will, she could see the future."
"Could?"
"She, died giving birth to me. Did she tell your mother anything else?"
"No." Hanna's aura was flat, no emotion at all. just a bland unmoving blanket covering her.
"Can I get you anything? Aside from the manacles off." You felt bad for adding the last part but knew if you didn't she just ask for it anyway.
She didn't answer just kept staring out the window.
You watched her for a moment trying to think of how to help her. "Why did you start your bandit," as you said the word you saw a dim flicker of anger in her aura, "rebellion?"
She still didn't answer.
You waited, thinking that with some time maybe she'd given an answer but she didn't just kept staring out the window. You started fidgeting uncomfortably, you weren't equipped to deal with this, you aren't a psychologists or psychiatrist, or whatever the right profession for helping her is. You had no idea where or how to start, this is something Clare should do, she's as close to a professional as there is in this world, she's helping Edin so she might be able to help Hanna. You turn and put you hand on the door but hesitate.
"I want to save you, I really do but I don't know how, I don't know why my mother told yours I would, shes left me notes but they don't really answer so much as direct." You let out a heavy sigh as all the pent up frustration at your mothers inability to to just give you an answer she fucking clearly always fucking had. "If you need anything just knock on the door, I'll make sure you get." You trailed off, Hanna was still looking out the window not paying attention to you at all. Whatever she'd gone through was bad. You thought about the scars on her back and a possibility occurred. "The scars on you back." For the first time she shifted, moving to put her back against the wall but not looking at you. "I might be able to heal them if you'll," you cut yourself off at the require to heal them, "trust me."
Hanna looked at you and blinked slowly. She didn't say anything just looked at you.
You sighed. "I don't know what to do. You led a rebellion that killed and **** innocent people I can't take the manacles off. If I did and you tried to hurt anyone it would be my fault they or you got hurt. I just," you closed your eyes, "I just didn't want to be the reason someone **** or hurt you. I didn't think past that when I." you stopped and rubbed your face annoyed at your inability to do anything, it wasn't her fault, she'd clearly been though some very bad things, it didn't in any way excuse what her people did. However, no war or conflict of any sort hadn't resulted in innocent **** and **** in your last world or this one that was a universal truth and how many leaders had actually been held responsible for their soldiers crimes. Probably only the one in the same situation as Hanna, taken alive rather than killed in battle or suicide. How guilty is she of her peoples actions? "I don't to be the reason anyone gets hurt." It was the simple singular truth to who you were. "I'll visit again if you want me to leave just tell me to go away."
You opened the door and stepped into the corridor. Before you closed it Hanna said, "She said I'd save you in turn." She didn't look away from the window and you knew that was all she was going to say.
"Thank you for saving me." You said closing the door. If your mother said it would happen it would, why not thank her now for what she'll do.
Walking towards Asune and her mother paperwork you feel like crap. It felt justified to feel like that, you owned and were holding a person against their will, punishment for a crime or not. When you found Asune she was meticulously going over the paper work. You gave her very explicit and detailed instructions on how Hanna was to be treated going forwards, including letting her out into the courtyard. With her magic cut off she wasn't a threat to anyone, even a child could restrain her. Asune figured out you were unhappy after a bit and asked if she can correct Hanna's behaviour for you in future. You made she understood she wasn't to do anything of any sort to Hanna which she accepted.
After that her mother return her room and Asune started breating her about the paperwork. Her father appeared as well and said it would be if you left, Asune and Kiyo would be at this for a while. He seemed like a very nice person, only expanding the question of how Asune became Asune, but it was a question you weren't mentally able to consider right now. The carriage was waiting for you and sat it. When they asked where to you paused. You'd told Vatarie you'd be there at lunch and after asking you learned you had an hour. If you really wanted to you could drop by the Church and find out what Farrah wanted to see you about, maybe you'd be out of there inside an hour, who know maybe a religious chat is jsut what you need right now. Nothing beats unhappiness like frustration
Chruch or waiting for Vatarie?
