Go put on your gym clothes

Maggie manages to whisper, "go put on your gym clothes."

Tanya smiles and winks at Maggie. "Okay, Raven, but we'll revisit last night again soon."

Maggie relaxes as Tanya turns and walks around the corner to join McKenzie at the cheerleader lockers. She hurries to change into her gym clothes while she has privacy. Tanya's sultry naked confidence and hungry eyes had her spooked.

Tanya comes around the corner to find McKenzie just about changed for gym. McKenzie looks up and her eyes go wide. Tanya wasn't shy about her body but she was modest. She was not one to wander around the locker room buck-naked. She finishes lacing up her sneakers as Tanya starts getting dressed. "You didn't tell the witch about the BBC thing, did you?"

"What? No! I trust her with my life, but that's our secret. Well, ours and Kyle's and Minh's and Josh's." She laughs pulling on her sports bra. But..." Tanya pauses for a moment trying to choose her words carefully. She didn't quite understand why McKenzie and Maggie seemed to hate one another so much, but she wanted to figure out how to change it. "Okay, look, you're my best friend Mac. But so are Kyle and Maggie now. I don't..." she thinks "I honestly don't know why I like hanging out with them so much but I do, so..." she sighs "so it's important to me that you at least try to be nice to Maggie. I know it's a lot to ask, but can you try to be friends with her?"

"I can," McKenzie hears herself say. A small part of her brain protests. It tells her becoming friends with Maggie will destroy her reputation. "So you aren't hanging out with them just for your grades?"

"Yes," Tanya admits, "I mean, I was briefly, but that changed once I found out we had so much in common. Now I legit like hanging with them."

The redhead was so confused by that statement, but she rolls with it anyway. She's about to ask another question when the sound of the door to the locker room and more students start filing in.

"You two are early," Bethany says seeing the other cheerleaders. "I thought only skanky witches got here early so they could hide their pale skin and fat rolls," Bethany says it loud enough so Maggie can hear on the other side of the lockers.

"Bethany, stop it. She doesn't have fat rolls," Tanya says feeling the need to defend Maggie.

Bethany looks to one of the other cheerleaders. She practically cackles as she steps forward and puts a foot on the bench. "Whitney wasn't kidding, something has really gotten into you, Wegner. You've been doing inspections of the Mistress of Dark Arts over there?"

Tanya manages to twist the affirmative that comes out of her mouth so it sounds like sarcasm. "Yes, I've been doing inspections of the Mistress of Dark Arts, Bethany. Come on, just let it go."

Maggie listens over the lockers. She's surprised to hear Tanya defending her. What she hears next rocks her to the core. She walks a little bit closer to the locker wall so she can hear.

It's Mckenzie, "Tanya's right, B. We're only a week into the school year. Why not try being nice?"

Coming from Tanya was one thing. Bethany was Whitney's second-in-command, so it made sense to knock Tanya down a peg. Coming from McKenzie caught her and the other cheerleaders off guard.

Melissa, a quiet cheerleader who doesn't speak up very often, also steps in. "I'm with them," and she moves next to Tanya. "P-part of being cheerleaders is school spirit and what kind of spirit are w-we spreading if we're tearing down less attractive girls? I mean, we're privileged because we're n-naturally hot, so we should use that for lifting up everyone." She crosses her arms in defiance.

It was a bit of a backhanded defense, but Maggie will take it.

Bethany rolls her eyes. Without Whitney to help fight and Tanya's weird turn to defender of the losers she doesn't have much ground to stand on. Thankfully, for her, the gym teacher Ms. Stone enters the locker room,s o all of the girls put on their best behavior. Right before she does she whispers to Tanya, "Whitney has such plans for you, traitor."
