Chapter 24 by TheSpectator TheSpectator

Leave the bathroom

Go out shopping

You usually kept a decent amount of medicine with you at all times. Everything from cold medicine to sleeping pills. Usually, The Lakeview market selection had a great variety of options. Since it had been sometime since your last visit, you still owed another visit to the store you usually shopped at for your medical needs.

Once you got dried off and got ready, Delilah was more or less ready as well. She still explored the lobby as you checked out. The person at the front desk was different from the person last night, which was nice since you didn’t really feel like dealing with her again anyway.

You strolled around the place for a little while. Your extended morning allowed the sun to warm up the place considerably. All the frost and gloom had seemingly vanished as people went place to place. All considering, everything was actually pleasant! Winter wasn’t here just here.

You stopped at a place to grab something to eat. Delilah didn’t have too much, and neither did you. You had coffee and chatted for a bit, exploring each other’s personalities and differing opinions. You were kinda surprised Delilah had an almost darker view on the world, and quickly gathered that she has a terrible background with her actual family. She didn’t go into deep detail on how she ended up here, but she mentions being “**** and ditched” at the tavern a year or two before you showed up.

Not wanting to linger on the subject for too long - you brought Delilah along with you to the medication store. The building itself looked new, which was something you always looked for when finding any kind of medical supplies. Medicine itself was hard to find, finding quality medicine was even harder. Luckily, Lakeside had plenty of people that kinda specialized in natural remedies.

When you step inside, you find it to be mostly empty. Delilah quickly splits off on her own to do some of her own shopping. You figure she just needs some time to herself after your last conversation, so you don’t stop her.

You try going around on your own too, but you find that the store has changed drastically. In a way, it seems the store is pretty much cleared out too. Was it ransacked?!

Instead of walking around searching, you make up your mind go to the clerk behind the desk.

The girl behind the counter looks a little...awkward. Your eyes meet and she gives you a **** smile. “...Goededag...”

You clear your throat. “Ah, good morning? Can you help me find something?”

She stammers and looks away. “Yeaaaah. What are you looking for?”

You step closer and look at her. She shifts legs and swallows. She lets out a broken laugh as her eyes go someplace else. She looks too pampered and cared to be a native for even this area. Her short straight hair is combed and pinned to one side of her face. She’s a small brown fashion vest over her yellow dress. As she steps back, you can hear the soft clicking of high heels. dark stockings, which by itself wouldn’t be weird, but the condition of her clothing is pristine.

What do you ask?
