Chapter 10 by pablocho pablocho

What's next?

Go in alone [Majority vote]

You grip your new sword tightly and unsheathe it as stealthily as possible. The monster was distracted and whatever it was doing to Fern was definitely not good. With a deep breath you dash forward and swing the sword downwards attempting to cut down the squid-like monster.

A guttural scream escaped from between the monster’s tentacles and Fern’s lips as a gush of black blood splattered over you. The monster turned around and attempted to slam you away but was much too slow. The creature left Fern for now, the elven boy lowering its face with an exhausted expression.

You started pacing slowly looking over the monster. You had managed to land the first strike and while most creatures would have gone down from losing so much blood whatever this was still stood. Your eyes were down to the floor and you found yourself flabbergasted as the dripping of blood seemed to suddenly stop. The monster rushed in trying to slam into you with its arms but you managed to dodge to the side easily evading its attack and then you noticed it. The wound seemed to have healed already. A nasty scar covered its blue back, but nothing more.

Gritting your teeth you grabbed the sword with both hands and swung horizontally cutting the monster at hip level. Once more blood poured out as you stepped back before it could reach you. The monster stared at you and tilted its head curiously. The tentacles moved lightly as more of its unintelligible words escaped. You glared at it and lifted your sword once more showing that you were not going to listen to it, even if you could understand what it said.

The two of you began to circle each other, studying your enemy as much as it was studying you. The creature was not wearing any armor, his body was rathe lanky and it was clearly not a n experienced fighter. However it was clear that this beast was healing all wounds, his flesh was surprisingly tough to cut through and it seemed much more intelligent than regular monsters. As it stood close to the entrance the creature stopped moving and simply stare at you his eyes starting to illuminate as the tentacles on its face rose.

You felt your mind begin to fog and immediately lifted an arm to avert your gaze. This wasn’t the first time something had tried to mess with your mind and you were not about to let this mission fail because of it. You heard footsteps rushing in and quickly jumped to the side barely avoiding the rush of the monster… or so you thought until you were yanked by the arm holding your sword.

As you were pulled back you lost the grip on the weapon and stumbled to one knee. Looking up you saw the squid creature once more trying to use its magical abilities on you. Closing your eyes you reached for your mace and wildly swung upwards. The attack was enough to make the creature stumble back and let go of your arm. The place were that tentacle had gripped you burnt a surprising amount, but it was not time to think about that. With a rush of adrenaline and finding an advantage you moved forward wailing on the creature with your mace.

Again and again you used your own weapon to strike the creature back, bashing its head on the side and pushing onto its joints. With every attack the monster stepped back even more until it seemed to press against the pink wall. It seemed to be bloodied and bruised all around, at one point two of its tentacles had fallen off. The creature’s back hit the fleshy substance at the end of the cavern and despite its wounds slowly closing it was clear that there was fear on its eyes.

With a blinding rage you lifted your mace and swung down to bash this creature’s skull in, however something seemed to stop you. You looked directly at the monster with surprise as something stopped your hit just above the squid’s head. Looking up your eyes filled with dread as fleshy pink tendrils held your weapon in place. The tendrils quickly rushed through the head and handle trying to grab onto your hand.

You stepped back and let go of your mace, the wall having taken it completely. Looking around you spotted the sword and quickly went for it. Holding the magical weapon you looked back at the squid monstrosity and saw its wounds begin to heal as it stood back up, stumbling as it got to its feet. Gritting your teeth you rushed forward trying to cut the head off of this monster, but were blinded as you pushed through. You tried to swing, but clearly you had missed your mark as you felt something heavy slam against your back.

Your vision failed as you hit the floor, but hearing movement above you rolled to the side, barely avoiding an attack from the monster. You breathed heavily before getting back to your feet, disoriented, but slowly getting your eyesight back. As soon as you did so there were 2 things that worried you. The first one was that you noticed one of the eyes on the wall glimmering with magical energy. The second was that you that eye directly next to you.

With a yelp of surprise you felt something fleshy and strong grab your elbow and try to drag you onto the wall. With anger you pushed forward managing to escape the grasp of this monstrosity before the other creature rushed in and slammed its entire body onto you.

More and more fleshy tendrils shot out and stuck onto your body. Your hands were slowly taken over, forcing you to drop the sword and be trapped by the wall. You tried to run, but once more the squid slammed onto you, pushing you further onto the wall. It was clear you had underestimated this monster, no, these monsters. Slowly you were taken by the wall as you ferociously fought to get out.

Your harsh movements didn’t seem to do much, but as you struggled you noticed the grip slowly start to loosen. With hope reinvigorated you began to fight back once more until the hands on the squid monster grabbed the sides of your head. You were **** to look directly at its face as it once more tried to use its magic on you. You tried to close your eyes but the tentacles wrapped around your face and **** your eyelids open.

You felt the fog creep onto your mind and slowly you lost the will to fight. The wall began to consume you more and more until the wall had taken you to the knees and forearms. You couldn’t fight anymore and were barely conscious as the squid monster wrapped its tentacles around your head. You felt intense pain in your head as it seemed to invade your mind. Slowly the fog became heavier and intense pleasure clouded your mind. You moaned heavily as this being was somehow going through your thoughts.

You were unable of what was going on and felt yourself lost. Trapped in this fleshy prison you tried to think hard on what **** do, but by now it was hard. You were not sure what these things were doing to your head, but it was clearly much harder to think now than it was previously. You shook your head and tried to focus.

You could give in?

Or

You could try to keep on fighting?

Will you keep fighting?
