Chapter 64 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Go home!

Your party is left on the vacant street down from the queen's manor. You look between one another, uncertain of what your next destination actually should be. An inn would make the most sense--a nice one, unlike where you went before. The downside is it's already incredibly late. None of you are going to want to wander the entire city to find the best place to sleep. Your joints are aching and your mind is pretty much done thinking for the day. With a long, well-deserved sigh, you motion for your crew to follow behind and you start walking away.

In the distance echoes the pitter patter of feet. A blurred figure sprints out from inside the manor and leaps onto the bars of the gate. It makes short work of their height, vaulting straight over the guards, much to their surprise. The noise grows louder as it nears you from behind. You turn, and you see familiar face stopped before you.

It's the catfolk Rinlin. "Hello once again," she says with a salute. "I'm glad you didn't get too far."

"Oh yeah. We were deciding where to go," you respond. She's pretty fast. There's no way she wasn't going to catch up anyway.

"Her majesty tasked me with escorting you to your new place of residence. The paperwork will be completed in the morning, but until then, she figured you'd probably want the house before bed time. Turns out there was a place she could easily hand over, and it isn't all that far. Should still get a decent sleep in if we leave now."

"Oh right on! You lead the way. Eva, you stay back here... I don't really trust you guys to interact."

"Hey. It isn't like I bite," Eva mutters.

"I do. Or I will, if you start something with me again," Rinlin says.

Eva grumbles. "I don't start stuff!"

"What are you even wearing, hare? Your grandpa's jacket?"

"You know why I'm wearing this already! My clothes got melted off!"

You groan. "It's way too late for this, guys. Can we just get home?" Behind you, Niki is snickering. Amara is thankfully quiet like usual. Though if you don't get home soon, your party is going to wake the neighbourhood.
