Go have a drink

I headed down to the first floor, where Vincent’s living space awaited. The place dwarfed my entire apartment, sporting pool tables, entertaining spaces, and most importantly, a bar stocked with all sorts of expensive liquors. Both Vincent and Jessica were waiting for me, with Jessica nursing a glass of wine whilst Vincent finished a glass of Blanton’s.

“Glad you could join us, Tony.” Jessica said.

“Well, I think I earned a drink.”

Jessica raised an eyebrow. “Just one?”

Vincent chuckled. “She’s trouble, isn’t she?”

I smiled as I thought about just how true that statement was. Jessica gave me a sly smile back, which said more than any words could.

“C’mon over. I can always call you a taxi if you have too much.” Vincent said.

Considering he was pouring and he was paying, I walked over to the bar. Vincent grabbed his bottle and pulled the cork off. “Are you a bourbon man?”

“I am today.”

“Good.”

He poured two glasses, one of which I grabbed and thanked him for.

“To your impending masterpiece.”

We clinked glasses before I took a sip. Truth be told, I have never been one to taste fruits or pencil shavings or whatever in ****, but to be fair, I doubted Vincent cared to know the difference between Impressionism and Modernism.

“So, do you have any ideas on how you’re gonna approach your art piece?”

“I sure do.”

“I’m sure having such a compelling subject makes things hard, doesn’t it?” Jessica said.

“Uh yeah. It certainly does.”

That’s when Vincent’s phone rang. He stepped out of the room, leaving me alone with his temptress. She had a devious glint in her eyes, which made me as nervous as it did aroused. The words “Are you sure, Tony?” swirled around my head. Was I sure I knew what Jessica wanted with me? Was I able to resist the seductress in front of me? Was I willing to cross any lines and put my entire life at risk?
