Chapter 13 by Gamma Boötis Gamma Boötis

You decide to:

Go grocery shopping

You decide to go grocery shopping, might as well get it out of the way today. You get dressed and walk out your dorm door. You wander down to the local grocery market and start shopping. As you are accumulating your groceries in your basket, you happen to pass by the toiletries aisle. Your eyes are drawn to a box of condoms, and you think that you should at least have them just in case you really need to use one, Vernius be damned. You reach up, and drop them in your basket.

“Oh my God! John?” You hear someone gasp behind you. You turn.

“Hey Marcy.” You reply. She trots up to your side from a gaggle of college girls who are walking past the aisle.

“What are you doing here?” She asks excitedly.

“Just buying groceries,” you reply.

“Oh duh. Same. Me and some girls I met yesterday are going to throw a party at their house tonight and we’re buying stuff.” She beams up at you, giving a knowing wink.

“I see.” You say, picking up your basket and starting to walk towards the checkout counter. Marcy follows closely behind. “So who are these new friends?”

“So,” she begins, “I was going around campus, right?”

“Right.” You say.

“Right. And there were these girls who were asking people if they wanted to join their sorority, right?” Marcy continues.

“Right, I’ve seen them too.” You add.

“And they asked me if I would like to come hang out at the party they’re throwing this weekend and see if it's a good fit for me. Just something nice and easy to test the waters.” Marcy grins.

“Uh-huh.” You nod along.

“And since then they’ve been inviting me to come and do everything with them, it’s kinda cute, they’re like one big family!” Marcy giggles.

“Really?” You ask.

“Yeah really, I mean they’re already looking at who wants to become my big.” She grins.

“Your big?” You chuckle.

“Yeah.” Marcy states. “Every little gets a big to, like, mentor them.”

“What’s a little?” You have to ask.

“Oh like the new girls who just joined, like a pledge in a frat.” She laughs.

“Oh that’s interesting.” You state.

“Yeah, so I’m, like, booked all through the weekend with events and the party.”

“And how has Kat been taking that?” You ask. “I know you and her usually do things on the weekends together.”

“Ah.” Marcy says, looking away.

“So I take it Kat’s pretty miffed at you.” You sigh.

“Well I did ask her if she wanted to go to the party tonight and she turned me down.” Marcy says, looking dejected.

“That isn’t too surprising, she isn’t much of a party person.” You reply.

“I know.” Marcy sighs, shrugging. “What are you doing this weekend?”

“Probably not that much.” You reply, shrugging. “Mark is out of town and Alice canceled work today so I’m free for the first time in forever.”

“Oh my God!” Marcy gasps, stopping in her tracks. “Then you should totally come to our party!” Marcy says, bouncing on the spot. “Come on, I’ll introduce you. Please?” She asks, coaxing you towards the gaggle of girls which has found its way to the liquor aisle.
