Go check down the corridor

There was a simpler solution to his problem than another demon summoning and Aaralon knew it.

He opened the door to his chambers and looked outside. The corridor was dark and lit with only the night lantern; a low flickering flame that burned on a traditional wax and wick rather than magic. There was no one there. However; she couldn't have gone far.

He pulled on his dressing gown, wrapping it tightly around his body and returned to the open door. Carefully, watching out for the squeaky floor board, Aaralon ventured out of his room and shut the door behind him. The exit was at the south end of the passageway though he had come in from the north side since he had been at the top of the tower.

Aaralon reached the second floor of his chambers without incident. This particular tower was dedicated to the young men who showed the most promise. In many ways it was where the elite of the college got to stay. He could hear the sound of a woman, though. Just on the edge of his hearing, which had always been good, he could hear the faint gasp of a woman. It sounded like someone was getting lucky. Hopefully his frustrated dream lover hadn't moved on to her second favourite man...
