Chapter 20 by Funtimes Funtimes

Fight now or in the spring?

Go back home.

You turn towards your advisors. "His cowardice has allowed him his life today. Every new life in the kingdom is important, especially that of my half-brother and bastard child. Thus I will not have one of my new citizen's life thrown away in this matter. He will pay for his cowardice, and the Arch Duke will pay for his treachery, when time truly comes." The nobility all rally behind your decision, and as they march back, each of them boasts about what they will do to the Prince and or the Arch Duke if they ever got their hands on him.

One thing is obvious; this war will only end with either of two outcomes, the fall of your country, or the Prince's and Arch Duke's heads on spikes.

Later, a messenger from with a letter from the arrogant Prince Luis setting the time and date for you to come pick up your son. You realize that the egoistical man is choosing his battlefield.

When the time comes and the mountain passes become passable, every eligible age man march with you back to Lothelsabourg.

Once again, you meet Prince Luis in the fields in front of Lothelsabourg.

This time The Arch Duke, Lady Beatrix, holding your child, and The Arch Duke's Daughter, who is engaged to Prince Luis, travels out to greet you with the Prince.

You smile as your eyes land on your bastard child for the first time. "Prince Luis, I see you full your word and have brought my child with thee. But I can't help but notice your King sent a prince to fight a King."

Prince Luis scoffs, "My King isn't required for such trivial things as this."

Sir Trindon laughs. "Trivial?!? Only a fool would call it trivial when you are outnumbered a good 1 to 2."

Prince Luis "Your number is swelling with bakers and teachers. Unless you're going to fight my army with bread, I have nothing to fear. I will be home within the fortnight for my wedding."

Sir Trindon replies, "Your body might be, but your head will be impaled on a spike, while your bride-to-be will writhe in pleasure as she will be impaled on a more manly spike."

"How unwise of you to make that threat when I still hold your king's son."

You snort dismissively. "You brought him here. If you wish to live long enough to see the start of our battle, you will leave him with me and go back to your troops."

Prince Luis looks around as your nobles reach for their swords. "No need to start the killing yet,” he says before turning to take the child from your mother's hands and give it to you.

How does the battle go
