Chapter 6 by Genericc616 Genericc616

The first day, what do you want to get sorted first

Get your supplies

You wake up a few hours later, your back feeling a little sore as you rise from your slumber, and gently massage your eyes as the room comes into focus, you see Myra is also slowly waking up, which you find almost unusual, as you weren't disturbed by a noise or anything unusual, but shrug it off as you gaze over to a large window spilling in a warm amber glow of the sun rising, you silently get you your feet, dressed only in a long night shirt which stops just past your soft round butt cheeks, not exactly modest or lady like, but comfortable enough. You walk over to the window and look out at the landscape beyond, and see the large sprawling buildings of the arcane college with its impossible architecture of unsupported bridges of heavy stone and tall spires, beyond them is a large set of tall green hills, with a small path winding between them along side a small river. You wonder how different things are in a world with magic, you wonder if travelling has become easier, and remind yourself to ask the twins about it.

"Morning Emma, did you sleep well?" Myra asks as she stretches, her own sleep wear seems to consist of a short cloth shirt that rises up showing off her flat stomach as she stretches her arms high above her head, the rest of her sleep wear seem to consist of some fairly plain cloth underwear.

"Good morning Myra, I was just admiring the sun rise." You say as you turn back to face Myra with a smile, as you walk back to your bed, and open up your trunk, and take out some clothes that were packed into your travelers supplies.

"Yeah you tend to get used to it after a while, we all get woken up at sunrise, another reason I look forward to having a private room, as you can sleep in a bit longer if you want or need to, also being able to bathe more leisurely." Myra says with a smile as she gestures over to a room to the side with curtains hanging over small walls and passes you a towel. You follow her in, and the strange device acts as a warm rainfall that you are able to wash your blonde hair and soft skin in, but the device shuts off after a few minutes, fortunately you had already washed off all the soaps from your skin, but you enjoyed the warm water, as it massaged the muscles in your back, which were complaining about the bed you had slept in.

You dry yourself off, making no effort to hide your body from Myra, who you catch stealing as many glances as you get of her, she isn't as well defined as you are, with a more slender wiry frame, with some nice perky B cup boobs that suit her frame well. Her freckles don't stop at her face as her upper body has a a few spread around her shoulders, you smile at the red haired cutie, and find yourself thankful that you have her to share a room with, as she might like to steal glances, but you reckon she'll be safe enough around her, not that you'd be that against her taking you.

You both finish getting dressed, with Myra taking out a fresh set of robes from her trunk, and you follow her back through the door, where you see Elgin sat at a large wooden table not to far from where you had your short talk last night, you can still see the faint outlines of the chalk which was hastily wiped away before bed last night. There are three bowls laid out on the table, filled with a grey looking food stuff, some form of porridge oats you'd assume, as you gingerly lift the spoon to your mouth, the warm grey sludge doesn't look that appealing, but the others seem to be eating it so it must be safe enough, you concede as you take a mouthful of the food stuff, and find that it seem to lack any flavor, literally a tasteless mush.

"Well at least it doesn't taste bad." Elgin says with a chuckle as he see the look of confusion in your face.

"Honestly I think I'd prefer it if it tasted bad, this is unsettling." You reply as you take a second spoonful in the vain hope that flavor might accompany this one.

"Yeah, that's the free stuff for you, it's pretty basic, fulfils its requirement and nothing more." Myra says in a mock accent you imagine must be a tutor of hers, and possibly one of yours.

"We actually have access to finer foods, it kinda works like a menu, you select your foods and its prepared and sent out, but I got us all the same, so we wouldn't feel guilty eating tasty fruits and warm bread in front of you." Elgin says as he smiles, as he eats the the grey flavor less sludge.

"Speaking of which you'll be able to get yourself set up with your supplies today, as well as picking your first basic study, we have a good deal of time before we have anywhere to be. The joys of the studies is we have a few hours of direct tutorage, and then we're free to practice and study in our own time, so long as you are making some progress you can go at your own pace." Myra says with a smile as you continue to eat the grey tasteless food.

"Although the more skills we pick up the sooner we can take on the advanced tasks and get ourselves some more comfortable living arrangements." Elgin says as he drops the spoon in the half empty bowl as he finds himself unwilling to eat any more,

"Well I don't feel the part yet, so maybe I'll get the supplies first before picking a basic study. I have some money from my homeland, will they accept it here?" You ask curiously as you look down at the pouch on your belt, and the heavy weight of the large number of gold coins within.

"Sure, I'm pretty sure once it the portal was found to be safe and trade began flowing between our worlds we worked together to unify a currency, so that we had a base point to value goods at. Also you can get the basic robes like us, but I won't blame you if you want to splash out on the better ones, the dress code here is fairly lax as there are some impressive outfits you can select. Although I'd recommend you try and spring for access to materials and equipment, it'll save you a lot of grovelling and doing tasks to get what you need to practice your magic skills." Myra says as she and her twin brother share a grim look to each other as they recall some memories of doing a lot of work for tutors to get the supplies they needed.

"Sounds good to me, shall we go then?" You ask as you drop the spoon into the bowl, and watch as the grey tasteless mush absorbs the spoon into its grim mass. The two twins smile and nod, and they stand up and show you the way to a large building in the centre of the cluster of towers. It seems like a large barn like structure, but when you enter you are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of items kept within. As there are barrels filled with various staffs and a huge variety of powders and small pouches of various description, you see a huge section filled with robes, varying from the grey plain ones like the twins have, to more opulent and extravagant ones that glitter and sparkle in the light. There is a man in his Middle Ages your reckoned, his hair begin to grey at the ends, carrying a trays of brass instruments.

"Ah a newcomer, I had heard we had one, wasn't expecting them to drop by my emporium, normally they jump straight to trying to learn how to shoot fire or control animals, before remembering they need equipment. Welcome to my emporium young one, my name is Rufio." The man says with a smile, as he bows towards you smiling brightly. He is dressed in an outfit that befits a man who runs a shop, with a smart brown shirt, with a white apron, as some smart black trousers. You'd mistake it for a regular shopkeeper were it not for his vast amounts of jewellery with impressive gems fitted within their highly polished frames.

"Pleased to meet you Rufio, my name is Emma I crossed through into your world last night, so I thought it'd be wise to stock up before I got myself into too much trouble." You say with a smile as you return the mans bow.

"Sounds like you've got a good head on those shoulders, and with these two helping you out I'm sure you'll pick up the ropes quickly enough." Rufio replies as he slowly turns his look onto the two red headed twins. "You sure I can't tempt you two with those outfits you were after, I can give you a full set just 5 gold each." Rufio says, as you see why he runs the emporium as the master sales person works his own kind of magic.

"I wish Rufio, but we're still trying to save up for the private housing, but with Emma we are hoping to be able to work together and maybe take on some tougher tasks." Elgin says as you catch Myra looking mournfully at a set of black robes which look closer to a dress than robes, you reckon that Myra would look good in them.

"Ah that's the spirit, working together as a team, I'm sure I'll be hearing tales of your antics soon." Rufio says with a smile, as he turns his attention back to you. "So what can I get for you first?" Rufio says with a smile on his face.

What do you get first?
