The play is obvious.
Jess cannot ignore the recipe setting on the counter. A simple cheesecake. She reads the instructions carefully and determines that it shouldn't be much of a challenge at all to make, especially if the fridge and cupboards are as well stocked as the elegance of the kitchen would suggest.
