Chapter 92 by daciasdesire daciasdesire

Who’s car is it?

Get out and see.

“Do you recognise the car?” Spencer asked Dani.

“No. Not at all,” Dani too had never seen it before.

Spencer had an uneasy feeling, enough so that he warned Dani to stay in the car and not get out until he told her it was safe.

Getting out of his own vehicle, Spencer walked cautiously toward this mystery car. The car was off, he could hear no sound coming from the engine or see any exhaust from the tail pipe. The windows were black and completely reflective so he couldn’t see inside. As he was less than 10 steps from the driver’s side door, it clicked and started to open. A light came on and he recognised a face he’d seen just hours before.

“Mia? What are you doing here?”

Mia’s eyes looked haggard. Red flesh marring her brown skin from where she’d been crying. Spencer turned to signal to Dani that it was safe, but she was already out of the car and coming towards them.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know where else to go,” Mia said, her voice rough and broken.

“Let’s get you inside,” Dani comforted Mia, putting her arm around her and leading her towards the kitchen side door.

Once inside Dani led Mia to one of the stools that lined the kitchen counter. Spencer, not knowing what to do, went and fetched a glass and a bottle of Scotch. It was what they did on the movies and Mia looked like she needed it. She accepted it stoically when Spencer poured her a nib.

Spencer and Dani must have left New York City at the same time as Mia. How could she possibly have gotten there before them without knowing where she was going? Spencer had to know. “How did you beat us here?”

Mia tried to **** a wan smile. “Dani told me such lovely things about Avonwick. I didn’t want to stay another night in a hotel by myself, so I caught a flight here.”

“I didn’t think there was any flights into Avonwick so late on a Sunday,” Spencer asked.

“Perks of being a C-level exec and a corporate jet. When I landed, I managed to get the last rental car and once in town, people were able to give me directions how to find this place. When I got here, I think I might have interrupted some people in your barn. They came running out half dressed.”

That last bit sounded too implausible to be the truth, so Spencer ignored it.

“You can stay here tonight, can’t she Spencer?” Dani offered and Spencer agreed instantly.

“Thank you but I’ll need to find somewhere permanent for myself. It doesn’t matter where just as long as I’m near an airport. I can commute to where I need to be that week.”

Dani was quick to help her friend and boss. “Spencer and I were just talking about it this morning but I’m going to be moving in here. My place is going to be free. I was going to rent it, but I’d be happy to let it to you.”

“Oh that’s so wonderful for the two of you. Congratulations. That’s a great next step.” A genuine smile formed on Mia’s cheeks. “And thank you for the kind offer of your house. I’d be very grateful and more than happy to pay you a full market rate of course.”

Dani did a little hop with glee. Not only was she and Spencer living together but her dear friend and mentor was moving to Avonwick.

With the plan of attack sorted, Dani and Spencer went through the steps of getting Mia settled into the farmhouse for the night. There was no fire in the fireplace as Amy was spending the weekend at Kimberly’s house. Spencer got that lit to generate some heat into the house. Even during the coldest winters having the fire filled the old farmhouse with warmth so the chill was never able to penetrate. Blocking gaps in the walls and installing proper insulation had been another key part of his renovation.

Dani found some frozen soup that Spencer had saved in the freezer and got that reheating for their dinner. She warmed some stale bread in the oven and put out some butter to soften up. Mia hadn’t eaten a thing since she’d made the discovery on her husband’s phone of his affair yesterday. When presented with the hot soup she found she was absolutely ravenous all of a sudden. As they ate, Mia opened up on the details of what she’d discovered at the hotel. Dani had heard only a small part of what she’d found and had told Spencer what she knew on the car ride.

The thick starchy soup filled Mia and she soon found herself getting heavy lidded and sleepy. Spencer cleared their dishes away and Dani showed Mia to one of the two guest bedrooms upstairs.

“I have to be at the bank tomorrow. Would you mind showing Mia the house before she goes to the airport?” Dani asked as she picked up a tea towel to dry the bowls they’d used.

“Of course not,” Spencer assured her. He didn’t need to take Amy to school in the morning so his day was free.

“Do me one more favour? Get Mia’s bags out of the car for her.”

Spencer nodded telling Dani he’d see her in a few minutes. He went back outside into the frosty night. Mia’s rental car was unlocked. He found her bags on the rear seat and brought them inside. Dani had finished the drying up and gone into their bedroom to get ready for sleep. Upstairs Spencer knocked on the doorframe of the spare bedroom. Mia was sitting on the bed sniffling.

“Thank you, Spencer,” she spoke, hiding her face to wipe away some tears. “Just on the end of the bed is fine.”

Spencer put them where she wanted them as Mia stood back up came close to him.

“I’m sorry to be of such an inconvenience. You must thing I’m stark raving mad after this and the car ride yesterday.”

At the mention of it, Spencer mind suddenly recalled the exact feel of Mia’s smooth thigh and the warmth he’d felt from her body. His member pulsed in his chinos. “We’ve all had things get the best of us. You’re perfectly welcome here.”

“You’re a true gentleman Spencer, unlike my husband,” Mia told Spencer. The comparison between Daniel and Spencer wasn’t a good one.

With her words Mia stepped into Spencer’s broad chest and hugged him. Spencer feeling a protective urge enfolded the slim woman in his arms and cradled her. His face dropped to the top of her crown and Spencer could smell the perfume of Mia’s hair. Didn’t his nose decisive him? Spencer fancied he could catch hints of spices. Was it his imagination mixing Mia’s beautiful looks and Indian heritage into a scent that wasn’t there. What was real was Mia’s incredible body. Firm and yet alluringly supple in places, pressing up against him so tantalisingly. Spencer felt a powerful longing stirring inside him. Mia roused in his arms and Spencer released the embrace.

“Good night. Mia,” Spencer covered and then beat a hasty retreat.

Going back down the stairs, Spencer reasoned he was only comforting a desolate woman and the hug had meant nothing between them. No other hidden meaning should be taken from it. His thoughts spiralling on the event even as he crawled in bed beside Danielle and took her in his arms.

“It’s disgusting what Daniel did to Mia,” Danielle said as they cuddled.

“Absolutely,” Spencer agreed speaking about himself as well as Dan Maxwell.

He didn’t want to talk about it right now. He didn’t want Dani to talk either. His wanted his mind clear of thoughts and only actions. Turning her towards him, he buried his face in Dani’s neck and started to kiss her neck. Dani sighed in unexpected appreciation as Spencer switched his lips to her nipples, pulling the front of her nightie down to access her tits. From there Spencer continued heading south until his head was up under Dani’s night dress and his face was in her pussy.
