Get Settled In

“I’ll show you where you’ll be sleeping. Well, where you’ll be sleeping when you aren’t in my bed.”

The man took to the stairs and began walking to the second floor. He didn’t even look behind him, assuming that Eliza would simply follow. It took her a moment, but she grabbed her duffle bag and hurried up after him. He showed her to a room at the end of the hall. As she walked in, she saw through an open door what must be the primary bedroom. It looked modern and sleek, in keeping with the rest of the house. Her room was small, but comfortable. It had a double bed and room for her possessions. But it felt clear that she wouldn’t be spending much time here. It was spartan in spite of its comfort.

“I’ll give you a moment to get settled, and then you can meet me in the living room.”

“Um, what should I call you?”
